Your oesd is roughly 40% to win against the following range: 22+, AJs+, KQs, AJo+, KQo (his range could be wider because you're playing 49 bb's, or it could be narrower if he's a nit). No pair is going to fold, so your fold equity is against the Ax and Kx hands - and I doubt Ax will fold even to a shove for 40 bb's.

For 40 more bb's, I think shoving is ok, I think there's enough dead money in the pot to make up for the lack of strong fold equity and your under dog status in the pot.

Why in the world did you try to steal pf w such an awful hand readless (not the biggest mistake in the world, but...), and why did you call BB's 3bet oop readless (huge gigantic enormous mistake)?

Please convert hh's, not nice to post the players' names here. :)

You've bought in short so you need to play more of a ss strategy. You shouldn't have been in the pot to begin with from utg. Trying to steal blinds is the only guess I have for this play. When you got reraised you should have given it up and folded. Seeing as you called and with you flopping an open ended straight draw you shouldn't have checked but instead led out a value bet in an attempt to pot control trying to hit or check raised over the value of the pot. If you hit it great, if not I hope you are rolled to buy back in without this hurting your br.

Stealing in the small blind is fine. Calling the 3bet with a 50bb stack is a big leak. Like, really big.

Once you get that flop with that stack, though, just check/shove. I don't mind openshoving either.

cheers for the reply guys.

I tend to steal with all sorts of cards so although the calling of the raise was a bit rash i thought the steal was a positive move.

I know i should play short stack but that for me as a playing style doesn't work for me.

A large stack will only call me if they can beat top pair top kicker so in my eyes it's a negative way to play.

The hidden monsters are the ones i'd rather spend my money on.

He ended up calling all in with a pair of 99 after my re-raise.

I aint that keen on the steal when readless.
Calling a 3bet with a hand like that out of position is very bad.

No issue with the raise, but I agrre that calling 3 bet oop isnt great move. If he has an over pair, you are drawing thin, and even with just overs, you are way behind.

So 2 options:
Fold-
Shove. But he's seldom folding here becuase pot odds are too good and you have no fold equity with your remaining stack vs his range.

-reload to 100 BBs
-fold preflop
-fold to the 3bet preflop
-c/rai the flop as played
