I've been testing out the whole, bet big on the flop so that you can push the turn idea, had success with it today so far, getting 2 stacks in the first 80 hands of my session, the villain has only $5.65 behind him when he checks the turn, theres 5.45 in the pot, i can push here can't i?? If i check behind he can push the river with ATC to rep the flush and have a decent chance of me folding so i push the turn here to stop him pushing the river. Just trying to bring more of the aggressiveness i was using at 5nl to 10nl b/c i feel like i'm being pushed off a lot of hands at the minute and i might be playing too nitty/

Personally, as it has been checked to you I would not push here.

The guy is either beat or slow playing you.

Therefore its way ahead/ way behind.

If he has the flush he will most likely have the Ace so will call.

If he has nothing then he will not call, plus there is little that he can catch up with.

Id be checking it down here

I commented on this hand in the March thread, but what do you think he'll call a push with that you beat?

The board is paired and flushed, unless the guy is a total monkey (hard to tell after 20 hands) you will not be called by worse here.

If i check behind he can push the river with ATC to rep the flush and have a decent chance of me folding so i push the turn here to stop him pushing the river.

Wat ????

You push here so that he can safely fold all his air and call with trip 7s or better ??? And your rational for it is that otherwise he'll likely push ATC on river ???

Check Turn, Fold River is fine if you think villain will not bluff much.
Check Turn, Call River is fine if you think villain will bluff often enough.
Push Turn is a terrible way to solve this problem.

There are possible reasons to push, such as for protection against a 4th diamond falling on the board in case villain has exactly one of them, or to get value from Ad. But preventing a bluff from villain on river is a very fishy reason to push.

IMO, in this case, we are sufficiently WA/WB to make a passive line better on turn. I check back.

at 10 nl i am looking to get all the money in here. i don't have a problem with the turn push, b/c most players will chase the flush to the river. so i think he will call if you push or bet the pot.

i don't like a check, why give a free card that will only hurt you . if your going to check. check the river to induce a bluff, if you feel you have the best hand.

that said the pot is allready $5. so nothing else to do here but get the money in. and get it in while your still ahead in the hand.

most players at 10 nl will bluff bet, but not bluff raise. so if he's just calling you down your ahead. so just keep betting, and take him to value town.

Thanks guys, I pushed the turn and he calls with 10,8 diamonds, he made mistakes pf and on the flop but ultimately it was my mistake on the turn that paid him off, bit too aggro at the wrong time here but live and learn.

I think there are a lot of villains at 10nl that would call the push with just the ace of diamonds but definetly for the huge majority of the time the only hands that call here have us beat.

I guess i was on a little bit of tilt after the past few days but i've done the right thing and moved down a limit b/c my bankroll's dropped back down to $208, last 10nl hand from me for at least a week lol
