$10 NL HE Full Ring: Scary turn card with an all-in bet

This is about my 40th hand at the table and have only recently moved up to .05/.10, but I'm inclined to give the guy credit for something- maybe a K, maybe the flush.

* UTG with $4.30
* Hero with $16.14

He might be betting position (i.e., because you checked), but I doubt it. The flop wasn't particularly attractive, the turn made it worse, without a specific read that he shoves position w less than TPTK, fold.

I say that as someone who habitually calls halfstack shoves out of sheer stubborness. :D

I guess my concern is, should I have checked the turn with a nutflush/straightflush draw when I had 2 callers on my flop bet. I figure myself to be beat here but I could see someone doing this with Ax also- but again no real reads. Ideally I wanted to check call here and if nothing happens on the river then check/fold- I know thats pretty damn passive but the board was pretty killer.

Your other option is to bet the turn - but betting the turn (say, $2.50) is going to pot commit you (villain won't have enough left behind for you to fold anywhere later in the hand).

The turn's just a horrible card. Villain calling an AKK two toned flop means he's going to have an A, a K, or suited cards (or a goofy QJ) almost all of the time - maybe he's sticking around w TT-QQ, but he'd have to be pretty brave. You're ahead of worse A's, JJ, and QQ and betting the turn will probably get those to fold, but no other made hand will do anything but shove - and you'll have to call.

I like ch/f here, better opportunities later.

EDIT: I misread suits, didn't realize you have the nut fd. Meh, now I think I'm bet/calling, but I'm not very happy about it, we're definitely behind if he shoves and may be drawing dead.

I rather bet/call the turn here vs a halfstacker.

He is gonna have a tone of worse aces in his range and worst case scenerio where behind to a boat but still have one out, if i has trip we have 14 outs(not all clean since he might allways fill up but w/e) but honestly im not surprised if he shows us A2-AJ here alot.
Halfstackers at the micros often seem to have the mentality in spots like these when they have A7 or a similar hand that they should bet because the board is so scary,witch is obvs crazy seeing as they have showdown value with thouse hands but really wont get called by worse.

Start with checking the flop to keep the pot small in these kind of spots. If you are ahead you are way ahead, if you are behind you are way behind. As played since he is so short and we have the 4 flush I call

my view on this would be that he has a king and doesnt want to give a possible flush and straight draws the chance to hit, i would fold this theres so much better positions out there

This is not wa/wb. There are both straight and flush draws on the flop. Checking here would be terrible.

Fold. The Ts is the worst card in the deck for your hand. If he's got the stones to bluff that card, you'll get your money back later from him.

Edit - I missed your fd too, but it's still a fold.
