Here is a situation where I am playing rush poker and get a re-raise pre-flop against my pocket aces. This is rush therefore no read but generally a re-raise in this situation, especially in rush poker, signifies a very big hand.

The decision is obviously re-raise the villain back or just call. I chose to just call due to the fact that if I re-raise again it looks like Aces big time, therefore he would muck practically all hands, and I was really trying to trap him and take everything on a dry flop. At the same time it is possible he had KK and would have committed all his chips pre-flop as it is extremely hard to fold KK pre-flop.

The flop came 9 7 5 with two hearts so due to this draw filled board, although none of his hand range scares me here, I check raised him all-in and he very quickly folded which made me think he most likely held AK and I made a profit of $2.20.

How would you have played this?

I am very rarely just calling there preflop. In rush, you get people who are willing to stack off preflop with TT+, AJ+. I would have made a 3Bet to about $3. I have seen people make a min-3Bet there, but I hate that move.

True. Looking back at it that is probably what I should have done as with many hands that are hard to throw away here, JJ (thinking up against AK) QQ, KK, AK, AKs, at least will give me a call. And I will make more money than I did in this pot, and possibly the long run.

Stop seeing monsters under the bed. Stop being passive / slowplaying, biggest mistake you could make
