$10 NL HE Full Ring: Line Check- TPGK vs Bad Lag

Nothing much has happened b/t me and villian thus far. His stats are over a very small sample (30ish hands) but the only thing I took from those hands was he wasn't all that great. Raised a lot but didn't have a post flop game what-so-ever.

I took this line of c/c beluga turn because I thought he would continue betting into me. After the call on the turn, is checking back the river okay with the intention of calling to a normalish sized bet/folding to a large pot or + bet?

Your line just isn't logically consistent. If you check/raise the turn, its because you think you're ahead of his range and he'll call with worse. Thus, we should be v-betting the river. Given your line, the only reason we should check the river is if we think he will bluff/value bet worse.

We have enough money behind to bet/fold this river, so I think I'd lean towards doing that. I think this line is okay as well, since the pot's kinda smallish when he bets the turn. I don't think it matters whether you check the river or not, but I'd lean towards betting since fish call too much, especially at these low stakes.

I suppose I just got cold feet for lack of a better term. I raised on the turn for the right reasons, but for some reason when he came along I just gave up thinking he had me

I give up too easy and I know I need to work that, thanks for making this hand clearer

You need to stop thinking in the short run and start thinking in the long run.

If you think that a player is a fish or a calling station then you must value bet them. Sometimes they will show the nuts, but if they are indeed fish or calling stations, then over say 1000 hands, you would reckon to win more than 70% of the time.

As long as your read is correct and the board isn't one that is even scary to a fish then bet. Don't try to raise them out f the pot when you have a good but not monster hand.. bet big enough that you make money yet small enough that they will call with all of those bad hands they like to call with.

These are not players to bluff.. they usually have something but its not much. They will see a showdown with bottom pair or an A high unimproved because they think you could be bluffing and they see catching bluffs as the goal of poker.

But when you have a hand.. its probably better than theirs. Don't worry about paying them off because in the LR they will pay you more than you pay them.
