I figured he could be easily shoving with many over pairs like KK, QQ or possible JJ given that two 8s are already out and it's not at all likely he is holding the final lone 5 on the river.

Should I have been weary of the river allin or is thisa cooler?

what did he have? ace 5?......nothing much you can do there except get it all in and bet the turn....you gave the sb a free card to hit a flush, if he had clubs....

Quad 8's would be my guess, given outcome.

Did you have any reads on SB? I'm actually more worried about a high VPIP SB here than MP as the turn would hit his range better than MP if he's a fish. Is that why you checked turn and were hoping for a cheap showdown? I think betting turn is ok with the intent of shoving river as we sometimes get value from Ax or overpairs calling.

On the river, I'm happy getting in 100bb on this hand with AA against MP villain. We have something like 80% equity giving villain a fairly generous range of any suited connectors that beat us and 88-QQ. I think KK+ definitely 4bets this pre, but with 99-QQ still in the mix we have good odds to call off here imo.

Was hoping he would spaz out with a smaller overpair. The pot is already big enough that any form of bet either at turn or river would be an allen anyway so I did not feel the rush to bet the turn, that and to allow a flush to catch up

Wait this made no sense did it... I need to stop playing poker after my graveyard shifts. One day, I might end up drinking from the piss bottle by accident lol

Easy fold. After the 3-way flop action, it is clear to me that one of these players has an 8 or a 5. On the river, no one is going to shove with KK/QQ/JJ - maybe betting half pot for value, but not full pot --> what does he expect to get called with except for a fullhouse here? A high is not gonna call.

Def get this in on the turn. Its a pot sized bet and you'll probably get 66+ to call and maybe even AQ of clubs. Tons of value available.
