Pre-flop: ($0.15) Hero is BTN and dealt :ad4: :10d4:
5 folds, CO raises to $0.30, Hero calls $0.30, SB folds, BB calls $0.20

Flop: ($0.95) :qc4: :jh4: :kh4: (3 players)
BB checks, CO bets $0.71, So BB is half stacked .I know i should have raised maniac pre right to isolate him first? But now i have the nutz ,am i raising to protect from a heart on turn??And how much??or just calling Mr Maniac and see what he does on the turn?? I know in the past when your passive they keep betting ,but as soon as you reraise in pos they shut down?? What's the best approach to this kind of situation?? Do we take a chance on another Heart coming on the turn,or we aren't worried about it?? Thanks Chris

I'd raise to like $2.15, this board produces so many good hands, draws, and pairs + draws that you'll get called a lot.

It also hits the tight BB pretty hard -- that's a small but important point, don't raise too much that you can't reshove if BB shoves.

Raise but it's for value not protection.

Flatting pre is better IMO. As played raise flop he's not going to want to give up if he has ANY piece of the flop. Even AJ and AT will continue w/ one pair and a gutshot. Most turn cards will kill your action i.e any heart, ace, ten b/c although it might give him twopair it'd make a 4straight so he may, may, find a fold button if you're too agg. So raise flop.

(On a side note you should change your 'plays at' status, aparently E=/=mc^2 any more :( )

Agreed. Meant to address this when I posted earlier. Unless you KNOW this guy will call/get it in with any Ace and some lesser connector, you're hand just has too much value in position to waste it 3bet bluffing.

3 bet pre, now raise for value.
protection is not a reason for betting

1) value
2) bluff
3) pick up dead money

drill that into your head repeatedly (we all have to at some point.)

i would think a 3bet against this guy would be for value

There is no doubt that our hand is better than his range but we have 13 hands on him, no idea how he responds to a 3bet, and position, I prefer flatting pre.

I would flat pre in position here as well. Just because we are "ahead" of someone's range does not mean we need to 3bet them every time. There are many other factors at play such as keeping their dominated hands in, not putting ourself in an awful position if he 4bets etc.

And I would raise the flop for value, not protection as mentioned.

That, plus raise the flop for whatever allows you to shove the turn.
