i have general query, when we hold a big pair on that kind of board which seems pretty safe and we are oop how should we play? what line is the most ideal to follow? always betting for value or should be more cautions when the opponent hasn't shown strength...

i haven't any information for the villain...

Well played. Villain could easily have 10/10+, betting all three streets and not folding is best.

Cold calling 3bet to setmine is pretty bad so he made a mistake preflop.

No he didn't. He was on a coin flip and had the right odds to see a flop even though he was out of position. If he hits his set on the flop, he's golden, if he doesn't and see an over card or two , then is time to fold, that simple.

Calling 9 bbs to win ~110 BBs in a set or forget situation is NOT fine.

you forgot the times that when you mined a set you don't get paid off for the whole stack if your opponent whiffs the board, which can happen if they don't exclusively 3bet KK+. Why calling 3bet to set mine is only ever good vs bad nits in 2nl.

Well played hand OP.

I was thinking the same thing lol.

1- How is this a coin flip? CO is dominated.
2- CO is actually in position
3- If no overcards come on the flop do you really think the CO can fold an overpair of nines to a cbet?
4- This is Full Ring (I don't play FR so I am not sure but I think CO makes a mistake calling pre-flop).
5- If CO hits his set he might not get payed as HERO can have AK
6- UTG+1 can also re-raise, therefore CO just wasted 9 BB's.

Exactly. If UTG+1 shoves, that 99 can't do shit.

One of the more important points is that the pot is still open. Cold calling 3-bets with hands like this OOP is pretty bad unless you have some really good reads on your opponents, or your opponents suck really bad.

hmm? CO was IP. The major big problem with his line imo was that UTG could easily squeeze (hell if I were UTG there I probably would have squeezed or folded, but I wouldn't be because I don't play full 10max/9max ever :p) and then he'd have been screwed.

Wp OP

I kind of like checking back turn tbh, since that line looks so weak to 3b/cb/check

board isn't scary at all, so no draws getting there + any 9x hands that he could possibly have in his range (not many but still), can't get 2p on us either. Checking turn seems sexy to let him fire w/any air he might have been floating. Just a thought :)

I think if you have a monster card..
Make anybody pay expensive to buy the flop..
Because this is probability game...
