I'm playing on Bovada, so no stat's or long term reads. I've been at the table 45 minutes or so, and have won .8 buy-ins (80 BB) through decent cards, and lots of post flop aggression. The table as a whole is pretty loose-passive, but some players have shown hints that they can make adjustments.
Average stack is 100-120 BB, with one fishy short stack at 25-30 BB.
I pick up AA in the BB, but face 5 limpers including both the fishy short stack, and one of the possibly intelligent players.
I over bet the pot to 11 BB (6 BB currently in.) Which I now think was about the worst possible play I could have made. 4 players called, wah, wah...
Flop comes 799 rainbow, and I check folded to a .4x pot bet, with no other callers, but 1 player left to act behind me. Last player folded and the better took the pot.
Pre-flop
I have no clue why I over bet the amount I did. Total brainfart. I rarely ever vary my pre-flop bet size. From the blinds a standard raise for me is pot+1 BB. So in this case it would have been a raise to 7BB, not 11. But I still feel like that would have been a terrible move too. The way the table was playing I was still sure to get multiple callers, all with position on me. Not good. So, do I...
- Limp along and play strictly for set (and the rare 4-card nut flush) value? Or,
- Shove all-in, thinking that even a fairly loose/passive table like this isn't going to yield more than 1 possibly 2 calls pre-flop when stacks are 100+BB?
On the Fop
I had promised myself when I raised that if I got a bunch of callers I wouldn't put more chips in unless I was positive I was ahead. In hind sight, with no other callers, and the other guy left to act having already checked, I probably should have called the .4x. Both me and the bettor would still have had ~140 BB behind, with 80 or so BB in the pot. Probably worth at least 1 call to see what happened on the turn. Thoughts?
