its spots like these that are really ruining my win rate..

leaks? aside from the generic raise more pre response.

no real stats, got him tagged green though so assuming he's a habitual limper.

ranges? do we give him credit enough for a strong hand to jam?

post hand notes: meant to bet more on the turn, i'm still towning his range except for the Jh..

I would have played it the same. I was considering betting small, but most stuff that calls will call a bigger bet anyway so i'd value him at $3.99.
He'll call if he has a Jack or two pair.

Bet $2 we can get value from the weaker than 8 pairs we were betting to value town on the turn. Get shoved on by anything stronger than a pair maybe even the draws once in a blue moon. However we lose value vs Jx/TT/99.

Bet $3.50 and we get more money from the Jx/TT/99, still get shoved on by most the hands that would have shoved had we bet less and might get a call from weaker than 8 hands although it's significantly less likely.

I don't mind either choice, the more aggressive villain is the more I like the small bet, the fishier villain is the more I like the regular bet. Seeing as villain open limped and has a green tag I'm going to go with the regular bet. There's a good chance he can float Jx overcard hands and shoving over small bets with draws isn't a regulary done thing by fish.

I bet $3.50

I'd throw out a small bet around half pot or so

He's folding most of his range to any bet and I doubt he's calling a ton more if we bet $1 vs $4. I bet $4 (maybe something slightly less like $3.94 just to look silly).

yes bet bigger on turn. Im glad you thought that after.

on river odds are he will have a weak 1pr hand or busted draw so id bet small. About 2$

He needs to call a $2 bet twice as often for it to have the same EV as a $4 bet.

Bigger on all streets really; probably 50 cents pre because we'd really like to be HU.

Raise more preflop. You need to make it more when you are OOP. Flop is good. Bet more on the turn, it's for value right? Bigger preflop and turn bets set up an easy river shove here. As played maybe bet some smaller amount like 3/4 pot. I probably just shove a bunch still though.

Bet way more on the turn. And if villain wasn't green tagged, I'd want to check/raise the river.

Can you please go back into PT3 for this hand, click the 2+2 button on the hh page and then paste it here. It will not paste incorrectly if done that way and it's a totally different hand in position.

It weakens his range and would make me want to bet much smaller on the river.

but I thought we agreed anything that's calling $2 bet is calling $4 bet anyway?

Probably not if he's already checked the river. Checking all three streets really makes his range super weak. If you were in position with all the same betting up to that point (him ch/calling all the way), I'd probably bet something super small on the river (~$1.25).

Aye if you were in position then you can expect a lot less floats and hence alot less Jx.
