CO: $10.01 (100.1 bb)
BTN: $10.78 (107.8 bb)
Hero (SB): $12.83 (128.3 bb)
BB: $10 (100 bb)

Preflop: Hero is SB with 8s 8h
CO raises to $0.35, BTN folds, Hero calls $0.30, BB folds

Flop: ($0.80) 6c Tc Td (2 players)
Hero checks, CO bets $0.48, Hero raises to $1.30, CO calls $0.82

Turn: ($3.40) 3s (2 players)
Hero ?

I raised on the flop as villain could have many hands in his range which missed the flop, but after he calls should I give up? He has only been at the table for 6 hands so I have no stats/reads on him.

Lead turn shut down river imo, flush draws and A highs might float this flop/fold turn.

Just bet half pot here. If no flush draw is made, bet another half pot on the river as if you hand a T

With no stats or reads at 10NL we can probably assume he's a weak-tight & bad TAG since he raised preflop (stats of 25/14 or something like that). Thus, I don't really wanna play a big pot here. I'd just call the flop to collect a c-bet, and then lead the turn. It turns our hand face up, but against a player who probably isn't going to hand read well, there's little risk he'll figure it out and bluff raise us with his 98/overcards.

Not really a big fan of check raising on this board. You aren't really repping anything. I would float you all day or even 3Bet.

You just made a situation (on the flop) where you dont know what to do next (on the turn).

Even if you bet here, I believe he will still call just like on the flop.

Thanks for the responses guys! I must admit I played this hand really badly - I fired another barrel on the turn (3s) and got called (as you've predicted hffjd2000!), and spawned an 8 on the river to make a full house! The villain called my half pot value river bet and showed JJ.

It's certainly made me realise that it's not enough thinking my opponent probably hasn't hit and firing - when, as you say BlackRain, there's nothing for me to rep on the flop (as I'd probably check call with a ten or 66). Plus my call pre flop would've suggested to him that QQ-AA wasn't part of my range. Though even without his overpair, he could justify continuing if he's a thinking player.

Thanks for the advice, I'll take it on board! :)

Once villain called the turn i think i will definitely fire another bullet on the turn as we control the pot now by having the betting lead. However we fold if we get raised on the turn. So yeah definitely not slowing down on fourth street, might have considered strongly slowing down on fifth street if we had not hit our magic card. After that it's just about deciding which weapon to fire - the missile or a rocket launcher. :icon_rend
