This was annoying.

Completely readless, I've only 5 hands on him, this is his 2nd hand.

The only clue I have he's slightly bad is he's got ~70bb.

I can't think of any range of hands that do this apart from sets/weaker two pairs and weirdly played Kx hands (maybe K,Q) Still though I'd think they would still raise the turn.

Because I'm readless..and he's maybe fishy..I feel he might over play worse 2 pairs/ possibly some Kx..who knows..

Anyway, the river is a J and he literally doesn't think about it for a second and to my surprise, he just snap jams!

TQ is the only real straight draw that got there that "might" call a limp/raise pre but still, his float on the flop OOP on the flop/turn makes zero sense (I totally eliminate T8 from his range) So even straight draws makes little sense here.

Thoughts?

PS: Not sure why my bet size on the turn is under 50%, I guess maybe $1.80 is more optimal?

are we assuming he's a fish?

tbh its probably a call, can't really ever advocate folding here to a fish when he has like a million worse hands.

I like a slightly but only lightly bigger bet on the turn. I'd call as well but I think its reasonably close.

Bet more on turn, around $2.10 and call the river, the line that he took makes me think he's a fish and I doubt he is taking this line as a bluff and the insta jam usually means nuts or nothing but I still think we have to call at these stakes. Unfortunate that you didn't have bigger hand sample.

probably beat a lot but if we bet bigger on the turn we can call happily as he could do it with worse hands too

Call and expect to lose here :)

It's hard to see what he checked call on the flop AND turn with, and not make at least a pair on the river (TJ,68,89,9T are hands he definitely check called twice with that makes a pair on the river). He limp called preflop --> prob fishy. Fishy players don't bluff on the river with a low/mid pair.

However, fishy players might also overplay 2 pairs here, which you have them beat as you have the best two pairs. For the odds offered of 2 to 1, it's a call, just don't expect to win often

We can't fold top two vs a fishy looking unknown, anyone fishy enough to get this far with qt, is fishy enough to have weaker two pairs.

Ok, I did actually just snap call at the time and he showed up with K2..which was interesting. Looking at it more and more I think I'd of folded if I tanked/thought more about it..and convinced myself he had me.

Thanks for the replies!

This is always a call, and players who are very passive up to the river will often be very aggressive on rivers. You're giving fish too much credit here. Fish like to see the whole board play out, they like to slowplay on early streets, and they often are insecure facing another river bet, hence the strange flop/turn passivity coupled with river aggression.
