$10 NLHE 6-max: Tricky flop decision on flop holding TPTK, villain raises on wet board

Villian Stats (VPIP/PFR/AF): 14/9/40

Full Tilt, $0.05/$0.10 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 5 Players
Poker Tools by CardRunners - http://www.cardrunners.com/

MP: $10.22 (102.2 bb)
CO: $19.80 (198 bb)
BTN: $9.82 (98.2 bb)
Hero (SB): $22.64 (226.4 bb)
BB: $10 (100 bb)

Preflop: Hero is SB with As 7d
3 folds, Hero raises to $0.30, BB calls $0.20

Flop: ($0.60) 5c 7s 4c (2 players)
Hero bets $0.50, BB raises to $1.70, Hero ?

Villain VP 14/ PR 9/ Agg fq 40/ 66 hands

Firstly, just wondering if people think I should fold to the raise, and whether I should've checked the flop. I wanted to try and protect my TPTK as very few turn cards would've been good for me, though is it better to check in this spot on such a wet board?
Thanks in advance for your answers :)

cbetting is fine mate we want to kill the hand on the flop if we can because we don't want villain catching up, this hand I'm calling first street and folding to a lot of double barrels unless we improve.

Your hand is just in lead against flush draws or straight draws, so just fold here as you are far behind straights, sets or 2 pairs. Nice hand.

Well played, now fold the flop. Lots of over pairs to your top pair that he doesn't 3-bet, plus lots of draws that have you in big trouble.
