We do have the best hand here a lot. The problem is we are not likely to get any more value out of villain when we do.
If we check and he checks behind he will likely fold to any river bet or check behind if we check the river.
If we check/call we will likely face a river bet. The pot will be getting larger than what we really want to be making with a pair on the wettest of wet boards...
If we bet here he will likely fold all hands with no diamond or straight (a very large part of his range), thus picking up the dead money in the pot.As said earlier, if we get called we can shut down completely.
As for bet sizing I think we can go with half pot, we don't need to risk too much to get the same amount of folds. I think .45 or .50 is ok.
