If you called down this far you have to call the half pot bet on river. If you lose to 86, 63, AK, AQ it is kind of a cooler in 6max. 3 betting on the button would not of done too much besides make better hands call and worse hands fold with AJs.

With no info on the opponent, calling all the way seems okay. On the river, I'd expect to lose fairly often, but not often enough to fold given the pot odds.
