BB checks, Hero bets $0.70, BB raises to $2.10, Hero ????

Villain was a recreational player, if I played this hand against any regular than turn would be a check to control the pot, but i got greedy and I thought I might get some value from overcards or draws, any t with lower kicker and any smaller pair.

Unless you're dealing with a wacko maniac this is a fold. You're up against sets (and straights?) too often without any equity whatsoever.

Prefer check back turn. Not for pot control but to pick off river bluffs and get value from weaker pairs. We can't get three streets of value here. Also because double barreling just folds out his A-high/PPs, and there aren't really any draws to get value from.

nothing wrong with betting the turn, you want to be able to make a big bet on the river if you hit 2pair or trips because fish never fold & in all likelyhood still have the best hand. Also it makes it easier to play. We now are 90% sure we're beat and can easily fold.

I'm with Minh. There are very few cards that we don't like and our hand isn't that strong. I've found checking back top pair on non-threatening boards to be fruitful, especially against bluffier types. He'll look you up for one more street no matter what with 77 and if he has something like QJ which floated, he'll be likely to bluff a whiffed river to get ace highs to fold (I know I would).

Against regs and unknowns, I check the turn, planning to call a river bet (or make one if they check again on a safe card).

Against fish, I'm betting this turn too, but folding to the check/raise. No way they don't have you beat here. A3 or 44, probably.
