$10 NLHE 6-max: Tough river spot with AK

Villain most certainly views me as at least slightly loose aggressive. He is a reg I see pretty often and is slightly loose aggressive also. My only note on him is that he 3b my HJ open from the BB with A8s which is pretty bad IMO and shows his 3b range is kind of random.

Is this just a meh call or can I ever find a fold here? His check back on the flop and then taking this line seems pretty trappy but I'm just not sure if I can fold AK here.

What range do you put villain on? What range do you think villain puts me on?

Do you have a 4-bet range? This would seem to be ideal for it.

Once you've flatted the 3-bet and not lead the flop, you need to just call this hand down, just get to showdown since you have no idea where you are in the hand. Villain probably puts you on the hand that you have since you were so passive preflop & on the flop. Your river bet just turns your hand into a bluff catcher, the only hands that villain could have that may just call you here is AQ/AJ, everything else in his range is beating you and going to jam on you.

I wanted to see a flop against villains wide, wonky 3b range. I usually 4b here but didn't see the need. I'd usually fold AQo against a 3b here but against this guy I'll probably 4b it instead and flat AKo. I'm really not looking for preflop advice.

I do disagree with you about leading the flop though, I'm checking 100% of my range here. I want him to bluff.

I also feel like I know where I'm at in the hand until the river shove. Thought I was value betting against the suited aces he is over 3 betting and and against sticky KK/QQ type hands. Did you read above the hand where I posted my note on villain? He has more Ax then AQ/AJ here. I feel pretty confident going for 2 streets of value as played and I'm not going to let being shoved on in a hand deter me from that.

I read what you say but sorry I'd still 4bet (all day actually), if he has some weak hands in his 3bet range I want to pump it up and give him a chance to make a bigger mistake. These type of regs hate folding in position and we are out of position so I want to have the option to get stacks in quicker and reduce his positional advantage.
4 betting also helps combat further light 3betting from these types and you have the initiative, keep poker simple.
You gave away both position and the initiative I'm only doing that trapping with AA and KK.
The note is helpful but it's just one note and not enough to know if he has a linear or polarised 3bet range so its difficult to range him
As played I also check the flop and bet turn and river just like you, although I'd bet bigger on the end probably $3.50 then when he raises I really do know I'm beaten and we are still getting called by AQ/AJ.
As played I hate getting stacked with 1 pair here Id rather fold, he has enough 99 TT and in particular A6 here (if he three bets A8 he also 3bets A6s and he definitely checks that back on the flop).

Dude, I know why we 4 bet AK. It's pretty rare that I don't. I tanked to 1 second left in my time bank and clicked call. Villain showed AQo. Looks like he thinks I should 4 bet AK here also

I do think villain has A6s, TT, 99 here too but if he is doing this with AK/AQ then calling is fine.

Lol but why put yourself in difficult spots when you don't have to guess and hope ....If you 4bet here and he calls it's all in by the turn at the latest and he probably calls it off anyway on the pot odds (I'd normally shove flop in a 4bet pot v a reg) you haven't ever got close to folding, you nearly folded this hand.

As played, not sure I would even bet the turn, he will most likely bet it and you can also call the river without thinking about folding. Don't close the trap by betting the turn imo, he wouldn't call 2 streets with Kk-Jj so might as well let him try to bluff you.

All that being said, I 4-bet it also, much easier to play.
