$10 NL HE 6-max: OP Super deep: What to do on the Turn??

Villian Stats (VPIP/PFR/AF): 23/18/0.6

Okay. I have 70 hands on the villain. He is 20 tabling 6-max atm, and he obviously has some poker knowledge. We definitely have history at this table too, he's actually the reason I have such a humongoid stack.

In the previous hand for stacks I opened QQ from MP, he flats from the BB. flop J 8 8. He donkbets the flop for like .6 into ~1, and I raise to 2.20. He flats again. Turn is a Q. He checks and I check back. river is a 10 he leads for pot and I jam. He snapcalles and shows J9 for a str8. That was about 4 rotations ago.

That brings us to this hand. Looking back on it, I wish I had made my 3bet a little larger, but oh well. My cbet is strong enough to take down a lot, but he smooth calls. He isn't very aggro (obv .6 agg is a low as ish and it would probably even out over time) so what does he flat that cbet with??

My range includes AKc, AQc, 22, 66, 88+ but i'm leaning towards 88+. So that brings us to the question, what do I bet, if bet at all here on the turn? He doesn't have but about a pot sized bet left? Arrrin????

For one this guy has a huge leak if he's coldcalling 3bets oop. What does he legitimately flat there that he's not worried of MP reshoving?

I dont really know what range to put him on but I know it screams strength if the guy is competent. However I don't think he is competent so Im going to put his range as smaller pp's setmining oop in a 3bet pot. Something like 55-jj?

I think checking back is the best option because there shouldnt be alot of draws in his range when he coldcalls the 3bet. alot of smaller pp's that have either hit their set or might fold to a 2nd barrel.

I probably call most rivers fwiw too.

I usually check back and call most rivers/value bet if checked to. The pf cold call is always scary and that turn just makes it more likely he has us beat (considering 99+ at least), so we no longer want to get stacks in here. Though I'm not sure I'd want to even if the turn were a brick.

So yeah, unless he's got some weird 'CC 3bets with 78s' read stamped on him I'm usually not betting this turn.

edit: ^^^ not only are there fewer overs+FD draws in his range but I'd expect him to play them a lot faster on the flop. So in other words his range is weighted more towards overpairs/sets, and that range beats us.

Exactly. I was like wtf are you doing? That's what led me to think PP. The only reason I fig'd checking back was bad is b/c I still put A/Kc or A/Qc in his range. Flatting that pre isn't awesome either, but is that still a possibility? I didn't want to give a free card really

Just for the record, we aren't super deep. Effective stacks are 120bb's deep, and I wouldn't mind stacking an overpair if the situation were right.

And honestly, this looks like a great situation IMO. People tend to flat 99-QQ to 3-bets, with his range weighted more towards TT-JJ. Thus, I'm pretty happy cramming it in here, as I don't think he has a lot KK+ or sets in his range.

I don't hate the 3bet size pre given that you have position and at that point there's only one in the pot ahead of you. The range of reactions that you'll get according to raise size varies more the lower the stakes, I think, meaning if you went larger you might get more reaction, but for each equivalent increase in raise % size, the lower the stake, the less change in reaction you'll get. Conversely if you lower the raise size you'll get less difference in reaction, the lower the stakes. Did I make any sense there? :)

But I think the same applies to the flop bet size. You'll get the same reaction if you pot it as if you bet 2/3 pot, so if you want to build the pot, go for the bigger size.

He's so passive that I dunno what his flop call means. I'm kind of split as to whether to get more value/charge draws that aren't there or check down.

This.. I think he has to have a pp like 99-JJ or maybe even 77.

I just hope he didn't hit a set. I doubt he's drawing.

Don't I want him to put those PP's in on the turn then if the range is correct? If he has that range, a A/K on the river would be an action killer

ty for responses guys. I ended up putting him all in, and he snapcalled with 88 :(

Luckily i 2-outered a Q on the river to take it down. From the responses it looks like there were mixed reviews on how to play this hand, but I think now that I look back at it his smooth call looks more like a set. Oh well, guess it pays to be lucky every now and again
