$10 NLHE 6-max: No reads, what is your standard play here?

So obviously no reads, first hand i get dealt. The only read i had was this guy was a platinum star, meaning he likely plays a little more than the usual player. My usual play here would be to just call and play postflop, as i think players at this level play really straight forward and basically tell you what they have postflop. I think here, since he is short, either flat calling or folding may be the best option, folding just lets me get a few reads since i just got to the table. I think 3betting might not be the best route, since this guy is so short, but Ktoff really doesn't play that well postflop i dont think.
Since he is short, is 3betting smaller an option in these spots?
