I probably should've bet the turn. He could be folding many Ax hands on flop and have many PPs in his range.

Turn is a check, river is a check/fold.

Please forgive my beginner type question, but is this because of the number of Ax combinations the villain has in their range?

Many thanks...

He will probably end up being a loose player. I think he could easily float here with many A high hands as A high is quite often the best hand here.

I like xing back the flop here a lot then betting turn and river when we have a weaker made hand. We fold out so many hands we beat on the flop when we cbet that we are left with hands that more often than not beat us and we end up in a tough spot like this. If we x the flop we can bet the turn and get many more weaker hands to call.

yes, but he might quite often bet on turn and river with a bit part of his range so we would sometimes get into an even tougher spot.

AX's are easily in his range as he is loose/passive, so are QX's. However when he checks back the turn and bets half pot on river, it looks like a queen here, most of these passive guys would just check the river with a pocket pair like 99 or they would bet very small as a blocking bet.
