First hand, i wouldnt be 3betting an UTG raise there, i had trouble with upping my 3betting too and the best thing i found was (when i was just starting anyways) to stick to 3betting wider only when the HJ, CO or BTN has opened, just gives you more of a chance to get folds and be facing a weaker range if you see a flop, ups your confidence a bit, rather than 3betting an UTG raise, getting 4bet and giving up on making your 3bets wider. Also, i think 3betting $1 there is a bit small.

Hand 2 - I think you 3bet too big here, also, although this hand is better than the first hand you chose to 3b, i like to 3bet with Ax Kx type hands as it gives you a blocker, makes it less likely that they opened w/ Ax and less likely that you will get 4b.

Hand 3 - Doesn't make sense, who opened if the CO called??

Probs not the best advice b/c its hardly my strongest point, but just simply 3betting the LP openers and 3betting with more hands that have blockers will see you getting more folds and less action.

EDIT: Its 10nl lol , the CO limped, this is called isolating :D lol

don't 3-bet UTG unless you have a rock-solid read that he is weak-tight and will fold medium pairs.

Hands 1 & 2, you're essentially 3-betting guys with crazy strong ranges. Sounds like a great way to own yourself unless you've got some specific stats/reads here.

Hand 3, there is no 3-bet.

I'm not Chuck, but I'm guessing he'd say something along the lines of "altering your play to obtain 'optimal' stats is a great way to play sub-optimally".

Here in these hands, it seems like you're just 3-betting for the sake of 3-betting. You don't have any reads, and none of the factors in this hand suggest that you have the fold equity required to pull a 3-bet bluff. So you're just doing it because someone told you that good players 3-bet light a lot.

Yeah Thats kind of why I posted the HH. Im trying to get better. And not be as exploitable with my 3-bet range.

And Im not trying to gain "optimal stats". Actually I dont care what the number actually falls at as long as I can take advantage of opportunities that arrise during play that help pad the winrate.

If he had something to say, I wish he wouldve just said that.

Forget about increasing 3-bet%. 3-betting light is so early 2010. Flatting is the new 3-betting.

A coach will ask the same question if you c-bet; why? Not because it's wrong, but because he wants to make sure that you understand the reason and the value of doing so. You don't c-bet just because that's what you've been told to do, you do so for a reason that matches the circumstances and that helps to define how you're going to play the rest of the hand.

Like in hands 1 and 2; if your reason is just to 3-bet because you hope to win more than you lose overall then that's not good reasoning because the range that these players likely have its too strong. If, on the other hand, these two opponents have a PFR of 35%, high fold to 3bet % and play poorly postflop, then sure, go ahead and try a 3bet.

As mentioned, we should be more likely to 3 bet players who are opening from late position because their range of hands is wider, hence they can't stand up to as much pressure, or, players who raise too frequently in general. As for your own hands, I don't mind 3 betting with suited connectors like you've done, but in better situations. In your own list of criteria these look like "bad situations" to me without reads.

Do you seriously think you are getting exploited by $10 NL regs?
