10NL 6-max zoom on pokerstars. Villain is unknown.

BTN: $41.58
Hero (SB): $21.45
BB: $10.45
UTG: $10.15
MP: $21.84
CO: $10.00

Pre Flop: ($0.15) Hero is SB with J:diamond: Q:club:
4 folds, Hero raises to $0.30, BB raises to $0.90, Hero calls $0.60

Flop: ($1.80) Q:diamond: 3:heart: 9:heart: (2 players)
Hero checks, BB bets $0.80, Hero calls $0.80

Turn: ($3.40) K:heart: (2 players)
Hero checks, BB checks

River: ($3.40) K:club: (2 players)
Hero checks, BB bets $1.70, Hero calls $1.70

What do you think about the way hero played this hand? Is it generally good to be sticky with pairs in a blind war against an unknown? Should I have folded preflop or do I need to protect my SB raising range by calling with some average hands like QJo?

1) Against an unknown I would fold pre here, with an often dominated hand OOP.
2) I doubt he is value betting worse that your hand here so its just doesn he have you or not. Hearts and jack ten got there so its hard to put him on a bluff unless hes just going crazy which again you have no evidence and prbably bluffinf aj on the turn so probably a fold.

Ahhhhh Zoom again. lol. I just do not now the dynamics of zoom.

But, I think the hand is fine. His check OTT and bet OTR make a call OTR fine for me.

BvB. His range should be wide enough here that we are good.

Now, having said that, there's no way to categorize him. Vs many loose players, this is fine. But if he is tight and trappy, you are going to be behind here.

Si, I guess for me, it comes down to: How often do zoom players in BvB play worse hands like this compared to hands that have you dominated? Range wise, I think you must be ahead, but since we do not know his range, it is a guessing game.

His bet OTR looks more like a missed draw, Q (better or worse) and 9, as well as other PP hands.

Pre is the only thing questionable, but I suppose I'm good with it. You just have to be willing to check/raise lots of T8x type flops for a bluff to play this profitably out of position.

In 6max QJo SB vs BB 3bet is a fold IMO. In zoom I would assume since it's even tighter I would think this would be a definite fold unless villain tries to re-steal a lot from BB.

I'd fold pre w/o info, but I'm an ubber nit. :)

As played, I don't think there's much more you can do to get money for value. So think turn check and river c/c is fine.
