Pre Flop: ($0.15) Hero is UTG with :4c4: :4d4:
Hero raises to $0.30, 1 fold, CO raises to $0.60, 3 folds, Hero calls $0.30

Flop: ($1.35) :4h4: :5h4: :3d4: (2 players)
Hero checks, CO bets $0.30, Hero raises to $0.90, CO calls $0.60

Hero bets $2.30, CO calls $2.30

River: ($7.75) :2c4: (2 players)

Normally I would fold to a 3bet in this situation, but this player likes to minraise a lot.

As almost always seems to be the case, scary flop to hit a set with the flush draws and straight draws. Based on the action have a feeling possibly the villian had themselves an A high flush draw of the flop and spiked a straight on the river? (maybe even had the A6h).

I definitely don't think you played it wrong although the river could be questionable I'd have to take a check/call(unless he pushed) or a raise/fold to push approach. Hard to lay down the set but as had indicated could almost see that he had an A. I could be wrong but just my feel with how the action played.

UL on the 2, but suppose it could have been any heart for a scare as well (except the 3 or k of hearts which you would have loved).

HOpefully my thought is wrong perhaps and you won the pot, but think maybe the whale scooped that one one ya.

Here is my opinion of the hand: only a few suggestions.

I don't like raising UTG with 4-4. Limp to setmine here. You can call a raise with sufficient implied odds.

C/R on the flop was a good play. Betting the turn seems good, sizing good.

However, on the river, you are almost never good here calling villains raise here with your set. C/C or C/F. It is a tough spot. I could probably C/F if I had a good read on villain.

Fold river. It is very unlikely your set will win at showdown.

Pot the flop as a x\r.

Pot the turn.

Either b\f or x\c river depending upon reads. I would lean towards bet\folding like 25-33% of the pot.

I agree with BeanFace 100% here. I would not be raising 44 UTG. I like the continuation raise on the flop and the bet sizing on the turn, but I too would check/fold the river unless I had a very good read on the villain.

Good luck.

Raise way more on the flop. Bet a little more on the turn. C/C the river. Not happy with calling a min raise to a guy with a 1.5 agg and not better reads.
