Played a session this morning vs a really laggy player with a very high 3bet (39%). He was playing on 2 of the tables I was and he was clearly 3betting light a ton but everyone kept letting him run them over, folding to his 3bet.

He was 3betting from all positions and so, to me, seemed really exploitable. It's not very often I've come across a player like this so decided to make some plays, I'd like to share them with you.

Obviously these are only a selection of hands I played vs him and I did fold to some of his 3bets but I certainly turned a profit from him over the session.

My Session Stats: VPIP: 29 / PFR: 26 / CBET: 61 / 3B: 6 / 4B: 12 / AF: 3.25 / Hands: 281
Villian Session Stats: VPIP: 41 / PFR: 39 / CBET: 75 / 3B: 39 / F3B: 86 / 4B: 0 / AF: 5.3 / Hands: 114

So here I raise pre and get 3bet from the SB. I'd fold 90% of the time vs a standard player but decide to call here, see what the flop brings. He leads out, chances are he's just cbetting as usual so I put him to the test and jam, if he calls I have outs. A very aggressive play, I know, especially being deep but he's so damn loose he needs to be played back at, I don't want to give him room to overjam if I raise his cbet here.

Looking back over this hand though, I don't necessarily like the play. I didn't have any reason for making the play other than his high 3bet % and trying to show him I'm controlling the table not him.

Similar to my 1st hand but I like this one a lot better because I had better reasons to make the play...

So I raise pre and obviously get 3bet like I have all session. I decided to call rather than 4bet because I don't feel like it's strong enough to raise and didn't want to fold out his weaker hands.

Flop is ok in my opinion, I have 2 overcards and backdoor straight/flush draw. I know if I check I'm gonna get raised so decide to min bet donk into him, try to confuse him as I hadn't done this yet. This could be seen as me trying to induce a bet from him and when he fires a bet I decide to shove all in.

He probably knows I have nothing, maybe a draw at best but all he can he do is call or fold. If he calls I have 53% equity in the hand vs his 3bet range so feel this was a good play.

these are mostly meh to horrible

Hand 1: T7dd -- fold pre. doesn't seem like you really have a plan for this hand. Are you playing value hands this way? If so, eh.

Hand 2: K8dd Is ok

Hand 3: KK -- why are you opening smaller from the SB than from MP? Make it 35-40.

Hand 4: TT hand -- WTF is this? Make a real bet or check, probably bet in the 1.70 range. Bet the turn FFS so your shove on the river is at least callable.

Hand 5: 65o -- Horrible. You have a gazillion better combos to bluff with, and much better spots to do it.

Hand 6: AJo -- i could see this being OK under the right circumstances but bad in a vacuum. Make a normal bet and get to see lots of turn cards that are good for you.

Hand 1: Yeah you're totally right, I didn't have a plan for this hand and I didn't even remember playing it until I looked over my history.

Hand 3: You know what, that is a very good question  My standard raise is always 3x.

Hand 4: idk. The way I saw this hand was the flop was wet but didn't want to force people out, give them chance to draw to the flush or striaght. Then the turn came and shagged that up totally, in my eyes.
Didn't really know what to do from here, I can see why betting the turn is best from what you said. I was lost in this hand really... got to make mistakes to learn.

Hand 5: Fair enough.

Hand 6: I still like this tbh, because I feel I did find the right situation for it. Maybe there was a bit of bravado involved playing against this guy which I know is wrong but he was pushing everyone around and with such a HUGE 3bet I just felt like experimenting.
Probably could have extracted more value if I just call the flop and something good falls. Just one of those random plays that felt right at the time.

Thanks for your input/comments, it's highly appreciated :icon_thum

On AJo hand, I like check-raising or just leading a normal size better than the min-bet/shove. I guess it is essentially check-raising but I'd make it like $3.50-$4 and fire on most turn cards. Half the deck gives you top pair or a gutshot or flush draw so I think we can extract a lot of value on many runouts.

Hand 4 is terrible. If you bet all-in on the river, the only way your going to get called is he has the case 8. I would have made a value bet on the river around $2. Also, on the turn I would have considered because he could think you are bluffing with like an ace high on that type of board and might induce him to call to see the river. Also, this would build up the pot size.
