So, just 36 hands on villain but obv drooler. I'm the BB with 88 .

Entraction - €0.10 NL (6 max) - Holdem - 5 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 3

ComplexP (BB): €28.73
mingyun631 (UTG): €2.36
HolthemNL (CO): €16.24
weckers (BTN): €35.17
kicfran (SB): €11.55

kicfran posts SB €0.05, ComplexP posts BB €0.10

mingyun631 raises to €0.40, fold, weckers calls €0.40, kicfran calls €0.35, ComplexP calls €0.30

Flop: (€1.60, 4 players) 5:heart: 3:spade: 7:club:
kicfran checks, ComplexP checks, mingyun631 bets €0.80, weckers raises to €34.77, fold, ComplexP ????

It looks to me like a shove trying to isolate the short stack. If he has a set here, does he ever shove 340 bbs? Or does this shove show weakness rather than strength

Hmm shitty spot.

I can't even get my head around the math of how often we have to be right. It does look like he's isolating but I dunno why he would do this with sets. So what would he do this with?

I'd normally fold here cause I wouldn't know what to do and it's only .40 invested with a weak over pair on a board where he could have a set after the pre-flop call.

Meh.

EDIT: Oh and take a note obv.

Thanks for the answer.

Have to be right just under 50% of the time ofc. It does make no sense for him to shove a set here, but I've seen donks do it. ALso seen them shove nothing.

Taking all that into consideration I think a call is appropiate. But it does beg the question : should we give him any credit for logical thinking, i.e. "I have a set, let's not scare off the guy with 400 bbs" or is he "I have a good hand, allllllll innnnnnn!"

No thinking player would ever do this, therefore he cannot be a thinking player.

Does that mean he has a set or not.

I've decided that at least half the time he can do this with crap like one pair hands his range is so wide and he sucks. Call because he sucks.

I have no problem calling river bets that look retarded, there are a couple posted in the August chat thread, but on the flop confuses the **** out of me.

Sorry for the ramblings.

I've seen countless shoves from donks with medium pairs, draws etc. The problem is to identify them, some will shove with nothing some will just be calling station but when they bet, it's never air.

If he had 100bb's I would insta-call, the stack size made it much more difficult (not because I was afraid of the amount, but fish generally tighten up a bit when they build a stack at least where I play. Again, it depends on the type they are)

But oh well, I called and it worked out, he had 76o that didn't make it. I think it would be a mistake to call this vs a passive fish, and we should always make that distinction
