and if he's stationy a double barrel never gets a fold. IMO betting only gets us value out of fds but just donates to the rest of his range unless you plan on 3 barreling the river. Also like c9 mentioned folds out all his air thAt were ahead of.

Yeah you're probably right, he could have just called with some FD's. In retrospect, c/c-ing the flop and c/f-ing the turn as you suggested may have worked better (maybe that's just because of the way the hand played out). I assume we should fire the river if he checks the turn behind?
Anyway, results of the hand: I have enough for a pot bet on the turn, so I jam and get called by 88. River was a blank. I thought he might figure me for an overpair and muck. Instead he correctly figured me for air, lol. Next time I think I'll think about slowing down after I whiff out of position, especially where my plan was just to take it down PF.
