In my opinion it wasn't a bad play. The things that make it bad is that i) I wasn't repping a hand on the flop and 2) the board was pretty dry so if he call one or two barrells he's rarely folding on the river.
The good parts were I played my FD strongly and left myself enough money on the river to bet if I missed.
Anyway i'm expecting people to say 3b pre and also it's spew lol ;)

Villain was 25/19 over 510 hands and seemed solid. Definitely capable of folding a lot of hands to sustained aggression.

You're going to get called on the river A LOT here.

I like floating the flop and betting or raising the turn more than raising the flop.

Yeah during the hand I had that thought but I thought I had no SD value. Is it possible to just give up here, or did I have to bet again?

You need it to work ~33% of the time. I doubt he folds that often.

I like 3betting pre

Agree, esp if they are the type of player who is capable of folding vs aggression. Id look at their Fto3bet stat and decide from there. I almost never call with this type of hand unless villain is weak tight post flop and we can expect to take away the pot a decent amount of the time.

Also, totally agree with WVH on the river bet hardly ever working. Its only a half pot bet and you've shown aggression which you say they are capable of folding to. So they pretty much have Kx a lot here by the river and maybe a worse FD that you beat anyways.

Just give up after he calls a flop raise OOP. The hands he folds on that river (78, other diamonds) you beat. No real reason to barrel the turn IMO.
