I think VS an unknown you just have to give credit for a big hand until they prove otherwise by doing this too much. Fold to the 3 bet.

What's your reasoning for 4betting?

When facing a decently-sized 3bet (ie one that you can't call for set odds against) you have to decide where your hand stands in relative strength to your opponent's range, and where it stands vs your opponent's playback range vs a 4bet.

It's either too weak to play back with, in which case you fold preflop, or it's strong enough to 4bet and call off, in which case you NEVER fold to a shove after you 4bet. Against an unknown at 10nl I seriously doubt it's good enough to stack, so we should be folding pf.

You might be getting odds to call it off now, but so would you had you raised everything in your stack but $0.01, so clearly that's not the focus of the hand. The focus is in your initial decision to 4bet.

Never 4bet without a plan - know it's either as a bluff, or for value.

1st turn on auto top up. Prevents you from starting any hand with less than a full stack.

You can probably just fold to the 3bet and be fine. I hate 4bet folding fwiw and I absolutely HATE your 4bet size. Making it somewhere between $2.70 and $3 does the same thing (he folds his bluffs and shoves everything else) but if you are ever going to 4bet/fold it let's you do it more cheaply.

In the hand, if we think he does this with QQ+/AK we have about 36% equity and we're getting better than 2:1 on if you call, so once you make your 4bet so large folding is probably a bigger mistake than calling. If he does this with JJ+/AK calling or folding are about the same, add TT and it's a clear fold unless he also does it with hands like AQ/AJ in which case you have to call.

So in summary, auto-top up, fold to the 3bet, failing that 4bet smaller, and failing that crying call.

So you think i made the correct play? Would i play AKs the same way in that situation?

ChuckTs and WVH explain it all pretty well.

You raise in the SB and BB 3 bets you. You should just fold here.

With Ak I think you can get it in PF in a blind vs blind situation. I would probs just 4 bet shove tho cause your never folding after you 4 bet and you're OOP.

very well put! the 77 is IMO is an easy fold to a reraise here. also i would have to say to not make such a big raise in the sb w/ say 9's or lower.

I'm sorry for some reason hillbilly's and chuck's posts were not showing up, i understand now thank you, my reasoning for this madness was i thought he was trying to steal the money he thought i was just stealing blinds with. I basically thought he was completely bluffing or i at least had him beat until he decided to go all in. I see i played it wrong though and appreciate the comments.
