Villian Stats (VPIP/PFR/AF): 32/23/3

Villian(32/23/3) is playing like his stats. Raising wide, and calling too much. Seen him show down some awful starting hands. I was waiting for my opportunity, and thought I had it. Once he called my flop bet, bells did go off, but I just couldn't help myself from that point on. I think this is a leak in my game that I need to fix. I'm still way ahead with my AA and KK in PT3, but I do have a hard time laying them down to players like this. Is this an obvious check/fold after he called the flop?

I get it in on that board. He's stacking off with all his Kings and all his pair + gutshot/OESD combos, and turn has counterfeited KQ which he still calls.

Agree with Pascal, especially if he's playing too many hands in 3bet pots.

That was a great turn card for you, as it counterfeits KQ (as Pascal said) and he'll still get it in with all Kx hands, AQ, QJ, etc. If he has JT or flopped a set, that sucks, but it happens.

I had a sick feeling when he called the flop that he had AJ, which he did. When the turn came, I was hoping he had KQ, and if he did have AJ, I thought I could represent KK, which I would have played the same way and he would fold his straight. The only flush draw that I could see him calling is JT, which would have beat me also.

You're never going to get a straight to fold on that board. EVER. Don't try to and don't think you can.

That said I think you played the hand fine and next time you post a hand please try to make it a little less bad beatish. I don't mean you shouldn't post a hand were you lost just try to change the tone of the post a little bit.

I understand it was a total bad beat. I am just wondering if there's times when people know they're beat that I should be able to cut my losses. Against a tight reg, I can toss my aces or kings when I know I'm up against a set or something that beats a pair. It's against these wide calling ranges, that I keep building a big pot only to lose it all. It's happened a lot lately, and wondering if it's a leak.

People overplay big pairs all the time, but on this board and vs. this villain it isn't the case, easy stacking off here.

I don't know what to tell you about your gut feeling, is it wrong too at times? If it's not 100% and you're a psychic then you have to ignore it sometime...
