Here is the hand. Critique and comment please. The Villan in question had been limping and raising almost every hand. He only occasionally raised after the flop. This was my first head-to-head with him:

Eeew, that is a nasty spot. I'd check/call the river based on reads, but everything else looks okay against someone with a bluffy image I suppose. I generally hate blocking bets, and check/calling is often better.

After you're raised on the river, I think its fold city unfortunately.

When I first read the hand my first instinct was "overbet, he has nothing, push all in". Then I figured out how much was in the pot and realized that wasn't the case. But I did still have a bad feeling.

If I were in that situation I too would have folded even though my gut would have told me otherwise. Its a tough call with an overcard and possible straight draws.

What can you do? We all get bluffed every now and then. It just sucks when people show you the bluff.

wat ??? it's great when people show you the bluff. Free information!

For OP, on the river you can either check/call or bet/fold, you can't bet/call as this gets too expensive with a marginal hand.

Check/call is better if you think his range as enough missed draws and that he will bluff with those. bet/fold is better if you think his range has enough second pair or underpair and stuff like that and that villain is not too likely to bluff raise. Also, you want to bet a little more than what you did.

In this case, check/call is probably the best line, because marginal made hands probably check behind on turn, while the hands that bet there are either top pair or better for value, draws that semi-bluff and sometimes pure air that bluffs.
