$1/2 FL HE Full Ring: Turn Nut flush Live- $2-$10 spread

I limped UTG with A4 of spades, table had been limp/checking so figured I could get away with it. Had 7 callers.

Flop

Ks 10s 4h

Hero checks, UTG+1 checks, UTG+2 bets $10. It folds around. Hero calls, UTG+1 calls.

Turn

8s

Hero checks, UTG+1 checks, UTG+2 bets $10.

Hero ????

What is my play here? Should I be raising or just flat calling?

I don't play FL, so I don't think my opinion means much, but I can't imagine calling here. I'm interested in the question, though, I assume that you're hoping to keep UTG+1 in the hand (I'd assume there's less value in this than getting UTG+2 to re-raise so you can cap, but like I say I don't play FL), so I'm hoping someone else who does play limit will respond.

Also, would'nt betting the flop make a lot of sense? There aren't a whole lot of better flops for your hand, and it makes your hand harder to read.

First off, don't limp preflop. I'm not sure how spread limit affects a game but I can't imagine it changes what should be a standard fold from UTG w/ a weak suited A. Weak suited Aces are for late position and the blinds, even if you don't expect anyone at the table to raise preflop.

Past that, I would go ahead and raise the turn. If you flat call and UTG+1 folds anyway, then you accomplish nothing. Plus, if you check the river and UTG+2 checks, then you lose value. But he's not going to fold to a raise on the turn. Then you lead the river. This is all dependent on your read of both these players. If you are almost positive UTG+1 will call behind, then go ahead and flat call, then lead the river. And if you have reason to believe UTG+2 will bet one more time on the river, then you can check raise, but you need to be fairly sure.

Well, I ended up raising the turn, getting called, leading the river and having him fold.

I had played with UTG+1 many many times and thought that she was on a straight/flush draw. So was tempted to just call.

I later confirmed with her that she was indeed on a straight draw and the river ended up making her straight.

Good starting hands and aggression are the keys to FL games. You missed the boat on both in this hand.

Preflop- A4s UTG should be on your auto fold list. IF you're going to play for the flush draw then raise. Build the pot now. You won't be able to do it later with the fixed betting structure or when it's obvious to your opponents that you hit your flush (see the turn).

Flop- As played, you should check raise. Your opponents w/ TP, 2P, and weaker draws (or even worse) probably aren't going anywhere. A craise builds the pot and could buy you a free card on the turn. Plus, if you hit your flush it conceals the strength of your hand. You wouldn't check raise them w/ a draw, right?

Turn- NOW, you have to flat call. Raise here and you might as well turn over your cards.

This is a prime example of how playing draws aggressively early on gets the money in limit games.
