Figured some pretty funny and amazing stuff happens while playing poker thought I would start a thread where you could share your most unforgettable Poker Moment for others to enjoy.
Here is Mine

I have been playing poker on and off since I was 15 years old. My most vivid

memory is when I was playing at the Silver Nugget Casino in North Las Vegas.

They had a very small card room 2 tables. There were usually the regs sitting

there on 1 table insulting each other because they knew their chances of

winning any real money against each other was slim But on the weekends

sometimes they would bring in a third table to handle the massive crowd lol.

Any ways one night I was sitting there talking to the Card Room Manager/Bus

Boy/ General Manager/Hostess/Dealer lol She had a lot of shoes to fill. I was

asking her as I and all the other regs there did to put us on certain tables. I was

requesting I be put on the table that had this lady that was dressed like Margaret

Thatcher along with her there was an elderly Cowboy and a couple real

nervous looking out of towners. The tabled looked ripe and I wanted a seat and

was given one. About 15 minutes after I sit down Margaret Thatcher whips out

this Cigar that I swear was as big as her arm. I was just getting my reads down

pretty good on these guys when this happened. She fired that stogie up took a

big ole puff leaned back in her chair turned her head to the right and blew a

huge cloud of smoke into the Cowboys Face. His whole dam head was covered

in smoke so thick you couldn't even see him from his chest up. Every one at

the table looked at her in awe with their jaws dropped. It took him about 3

seconds to realize he couldn't breathe. He jumped up like a Jack Rabbit that had

just been shot at He yelled something at first I don't recall exactly what it was

but then He looked at her and said these words I will never forget "You put that

#^%$ *&#@ (*)% ###$$$ ()() #^&$***%$# You will never be able to pull it

out!!!!!" All at once the lady jumped up grabbed her Martini or whatever the

hell she was drinking and splashed it all over him. The only thing I remember

going through my mind was dam this is going to ruin the game. Please kiss and

make up so I can take your money please. That didn't happen it turned into a

fist fight/Slap fight/Hair pulling knock down brawl. To see this old cowboy

punching Margaret Thatcher repeatedly in the face while she was screeching

and clawing at his face with 1 inch nails was too much for me to handle. I

jumped in and tried to hold the cowboy back and a few other people did the

same till Security security came but the whole time we were holding them they

were swinging and clawing away. After that pretty much the game was ruined

the few out of towners that had ventured into North Vegas quickly disappeared

back to the safety of down town or the strip and it was just a few of the regs

hanging out mainly rehashing the whole incident over and over playing their 3

hands an hour while getting free drinks and earning comp points. That I will

never ever forget.

Ha, funny/cool story. Did you find out why she did that? Or was it just unintentional?

My most memorable moment was probably my Mom opening some of my mail and finding a $1200 check from pokerstars inside. She had no idea I played poker.

My most memorable single moment was probably making a royal on the river to win a tournament. I was ahead anyway so just had to fade the opponent's outs, but it's hard to imagine a cooler way to finish.

More memorable but not a single moment was playing in the Irish Open a few years ago. I seldom try to satellite into live events, so making it into one that includes Doyle and Todd Brunson, Devilfish et al was a longshot to say the least. And great fun to be in an environment for over four days where poker was everyone's main focus.

My most memorable moment is beating Phil last night to take 1st in league game. At my age, I can't remember any further back than that.

I won a trip to the live OFC in Vegas, value circa $1500. Shame I was unable to go. Just winning it was good enough for me.

When I moved back to my hometown of Astoria, Queens, NYC in the fall of 1980 I started playing poker the very first time in a candy store on the corner that was owned by a pair of 20-something chinese brothers...I would play a few afternoons a week of limit/dealer's choice poker(for quarters...I was 14)

The rest of the story isn't really about poker, but about the asian brothers...

They were degenerate gamblers and they fancied themselves as gangsters. I used to sit in the store and watch them bet hundreds of dollars on the phone to their bookies playing the horses all afternoon. Sometimes they bet on sports, but it was normally just the ponies...never knew if they'd won or not, but I was amazed at how much they were wagering...it would add up to about $500-$700 each day....where was all this money coming from?

At the time(1980) the chinatown gangs were in the news constantly due to the steady gun battles for territory, and even one tale of a shootout at one of the Ghost Shadows funerals

Anyway, my friend Rob used to hang out with them at night when they went into Manhattan hanging out in Chinatown. The brothers used to go hang in the Chinatown clubs to either gamble or party trying to act like they were tough guys until one night they got a bit too stupid with one an older cantonese fella

Rob told us the brothers were acting tough and chased the older guy out of an eatery and proceeded to mouth off to everyone in the place afterwards.

As they were leaving, 4 gang members circled around them and pulled guns as they were getting into their car....Rob then told us when they started demanding who abused their "uncle", the brothers started to cry and pissed themselves...literally

After that incident, Rob told the whole block what had happened, and within a week the beothers closed up the candy store and left the neighborhood for good never to be seen again.

It turned out they were also taking the daily receipts from the candy store to maintain their gambling habits and their whole "player/gangster life" was down to the tubes

Obviously this wasn't much about poker but what happens to young knuckleheads that get caught up in the fantasy of the gambling lifestyle and try to act bigger than they actually are

I was hoping when I started this thread that it would inspire stories like this. Great reading this!!!!
Thank You

I'd say watching the 2004 world series of poker final table during the poker boom was pretty memorable. I miss those times.

My most memorable poker moment hasn't happened yet...

Glad you enjoyed that story, Calicard...when I read yours(funny as all hell) I figured it had to have a decent tale to come even close to yours so that's what I tried to write and add to the thread

I thought I did a good job at editing, but there are two spots that I missed proofreading...oh well

Other than that, my most memorable plays came roughly 6 years ago when party poker and FullTilt were available(and legal) to players in New York State

On partypoker I placed 52nd in a $100K GTD tourney I got into via winning two 10-seated games($10 invested in each game and had to win BOTH) for over $2500...after that weekend I cashed out for $3500 after using my winnings to place in 4 different SnG's as well...I sure hope I can make that happen again someday soon...who wouldn't?

The other was on FullTilt in a $5-$10 Limit Holdem game with Jennifer Harman...I was able to win roughly $200 that night which surprised the heck outta me as well

I don't know if anyone else has played w/pro's on FullTilt. It's a big hero-worship kinda thing where everyone is waiting to sit in and gab with a poker celebrity while trying to impress them as well....the pro replies to about one out of every twenty-plus comments and for many I guess it gets pretty expensive at the table as well. I can't remember if railbirds could chat also, but the chat was constant

These wins were few and far between for me, and I don't know how I was able to pull it off back then. It's been roughly 6 years. Maybe the online game was greener and there were more fish in the water? Who knows... I guess, for me it was simply being in the right place at the right time. I had a great time with the experience, and both times I was way out of my league

What I do know is nowadays I can't really put much action into any account I have at this time so it's strictly small taters for me, but that's okay too...I'm having fun with the free time I have and that's what it's all about for me. I know I'll be playing for bigger stakes at some point...so don't take all this like I'm some Grandpa...I ain't got no kids. I'm on a challenge to see if I can actually make "something outta nothing" during a 9-month period...then I'll choose what site(or sites) I'll deposit into

I'm actually learning more about poker than I ever did before...how did I get so lucky? I can't answer that. I was in the right place, right time, and I was able to make it happen. This is a game of skill, and you need a little luck some of the time as well...especially when it comes to online poker

BwaaaaHaHaaaaaaaa

Heck, I can't even remember that far back. :p

My most memorable moment? Was at The Bike. Flop comes AKK, we both get it in and he shows his Quad K's and I turn over my AA

He won the $300.00 pot. I won the lions share of a $75,000.00 bad beat jackpot. :)

Just my luck though. The hour before, a guy hit the BB for over $300,000.00. So I hit it right after the reset. Can't complain though.

Knocking Humburto Brenes out of a wsop event when he had been doing his annoying shark routine and causing the whole table to play insanely slow.

Winning a $5k pot with 9 high was pretty fun too, we got it in on the flop and both had flush draws, my 9 high held vs his 8 high.

The last one would be beating a kid KK > AA all in pre and having him fall backwards out of his chair when the K river hit, moan the word "NOOOOO" in the most pathetic voice I've ever heard and watching his sunglasses toppling off of his head in the process. Everyone at the table was laughing hysterically because the kid had been talking smack and being a jerk for hours.
