Have fun, put my mind to work logicaly.

Since I've started playing poker I've made a few more friends and even got closer to a part of my family I never had contact with. So..

Paying off w/o earning a penny lol...

Mostly, I enjoy winning. It makes me feel good to be good at something! It gives me a sense of accomplishment.

I also enjoy the social aspect of it. It's good to just get out of the house and mingle with people.

But they really are 2 different things. When I play socially, I don't seem to win nearly as much. And when I play to win, it's more serious and not usually as much fun at the time (but does provide pride of success).

My motivation

My motivation is the chance of winning a large sum of money, right now, I'd like to parlay some winnings into entering bigger events and eventually win a fortune!!!!

Just the competition really... The challenge... I play some other sports so I like the competitiveness...

I'd love to say I play for a living ! But, I need to improve a lot before that would be a reality...

My ultimate goal is to profit. I used to be a truckdriver and basically lived Over-the-road and have decided that I've spent too much time away from home, so I want to do things that allow me to stay home and cards could be one way of generating atleast a small income in addition to my other pursuits.

Years ago I would say addiction. But these days its more of a time passer. Anymore as long as I have a BR, and can manage it, then I'm cool with just going up and down. Poker really can be played for fun. GL to you

The competition honestly. I was a soccer player all my childhood to in college I was diagnosed with Rhumatoid Arthritis. So my competitive sports days were done. So I find poker as a new way to compete.

It is a game that matches with the kind of game I like, because it has action and needs and skills.

In poker you can play without motivation.

You can do everything without motivation, but if you have motivation you will produce better results.

Half the time it is to beat boredom. Half of the rest is for some social competition, and most of whats left is that I'm feeling magnanimous and feel like donating......

Note that this is because I can't do the wild partying, with endless rock and roll, sex and drugs like I used to..... ;).........

It was easy money, but it's wrong. On first place it has to be enjoying game and see money as something which may or may not come.
I was really unhappy when I was losing money, it was like total disaster, I wanted to stop play. If one start relying on money from poker as main income, it may end up really bad. It's good to not let poker own one's life too much.

hello guys,
lets try to not fool ourselves and the others.the biggest motivation for playing poker,at least for me,is making money or try not losing them.secondary comes fun cause if you endanger money, theres no room for such fun.a parallel reason is also the feeding of our personal egos.thats from me.personal opinion always

Getting to the FT motivates me to play another tourney.

I play for the fun factor, if I cash then that is a bonus.

Studying also motivates me to open up a table and put what I learnt into practise.
