I thought I would try & follow Doug Polk with his micro-stake challenge of turning $100 into $10,000.

He is 2 years in and has only gotten to $1,600 odd.

I tried myself but people play like idiots on these tables. Play any 2 cards, never fold, always stick around with flush draws etc.

I think it’s impossible to play normal poker and it’s equally almost impossible to have the best hand through flop, turn & river which means you might as well check to the river & hope you win!

That’s a dumb way to play poker!

Is anyone on CC consistently making money on micro-stakes?

And go.......

Such people are very few people who play well, he does not play on microstretches, does not spend time on them, only novice players play there and who play only for entertainment.

I sometimes win on micro-stakes but not much, but then I try to play at the rates above to raise more, but on micro-stakes play it is hard there are a lot of players who play almost all the cards!

It's doable for sure but a extremely monotonous, long term, and vigorous grind. I do not recommend this method unless you really enjoy low stakes and stress free fun. $5 grind is the way to go for micro.

Micro stakes are very beatable how many hours has Doug Polk put in ? hes winning like .50 cents per day so i doubt he has put that much volume in to grinding. And is he playing tournies or cash mostly as he might hit one big win if it's tournies and hit the 10k with one win.

I played micro but I still lossing. Most of the player is like donkey. Playing most of the hands, playing all thier draws. Maybe some can make a good money on this stakes. Need a tons of patience and concentration to have a good profit in a long run.

I think you can but you just have to adapt your style of play to the table you are at. People throwing money in pots can also work to your advantage.

No matter what level of poker you play at, consistently finishing ITM is tough.

I have a good profit ratio in micro stakes and this funds my entries into live games i play, essentially there has been a trend change in the past 2 years where even pros now recognise that managing a BR is helped by playing KO poker and especially higher limit bankroll builder games.
I play a lot of KO poker and would recommend this variant at micro level.

The key to micro games is - the games you choose, you tend to get less maniacs in 6 handed turbo games, i like timed games too, they can yield a good profit return if you have the time to invest.
Also - stay away from rebuys, this is a massive maniac zone - stick to what you know best and always trust your gut feeling, i have averaged around $200 a month profit for past 2 years sticking to the games i know represent best value.
I just need to convert another big score - its only a matter of time :)

Good Luck and keep us posted

Very possible to do this if you're disciplined. The thing with dougs challenge is that hes only played like 40 days worth or something small like that. He doesn't stream 12 hour days. He's taken shots, I think he peaked around $3500 but lost a few stacks at $200nl. Also the mtts on the site he's using are much smaller, so when he does win there isn't huge prizes for him. I'm currently on a poker break but going to start up again in September, either a $20,$50, or $100 start. We'll see how much I have to put in the bankroll when the time cones

look people will play almost any 2 cards and chase everytime they get staight or flush draws even in the mid stakes i seen it with my own 2 eyes. there is a possibility you can make a living from micro stakes. sit and goes are probably goign to be the best they have a small field of players though the payouts arent high but play 30-50 in a day and its easy to cash in 50% of sit n goes and win 25% maybe stay away from the horse play at the hyper turbos unless your solid enough and have balls 2 call and raise with hands that may not be favored to call with

The lower the buy-in the lower the quality of the game I prefer to play some freerolls at least loose play and I have more fun.

Hi.
I play poker every day for 4-6 hours.
I play only in tournaments worth up to two dollars.
On average, I manage to get a profit of $ 30-50 a week.
Good luck.

I've recently been studying some of Nate "BlackRain79" Williams training materials. He is, I believe, the most winning player in history at the micro stakes. His training material is amazing. It really will open your eyes to things you never really think of when playing at those stakes. Good stuff.

Interesting. I looked up Nate but I think he only has stuff on cash and I only play tourneys. Anyone know any materials on crushing micro tourneys? Maybe I'll post in tourneys.

I think you can make money in micro stakes, you would have to be able to handle swings because of weaker players and stick to a strategy

I'm having great difficulty maintaining my level of gain, I managed to go from 1 dollar to 40 in 3 days and the next day I lost everything.

I lost playing cashgame and some mtt tournaments, and the week before I had done something similar, I need to focus more on the game and create a stoploss control.

In spite of my negative experience, I believe that it would be possible to have a profit at any level of buyin, the person would need to have experience and skill, to be able to beat the levels, and this is achieved by studying and playing a lot.

A winning micro stakes player could make $1600 in two of years playing 1/2c without ever moving up stakes.Which is why i asked what volume he's put in.I mean this obviously isn't a challenge he's put any real effort into.A winning 20nl reg could quite easily achieve $1600 in two or three months.

I just saw him streaming earlier and he had a 10 hour day of 100nl the other day and he's over $3000 again. This is the second time, last time he took a hue downswing. He doesn't put in lots of volume. Like when he's playing for a couple weeks he does but he has lots of away time

Micro stake

The tournaments are more micro calling station but the good player can play at any level

And stressful cuz the good poker games do not go out in these tables

But we need to hit the field if we are good

I like to say micro-stakes equals micro-profits.

What does "normal poker" even mean? Poker is a game of adapting to your opponents. You select which option is the best and will make you the most money in the long run for each situation. I always need to try to remember that and to not get overly comfortable with one line because I'll be missing out on profits

I win at a decent rate. Some time I get bet by my own mistakes. You're playing to get better and hopefully take down a big tournament to get yourself to higher stakes. Once you move up you need to understand that the level of play will increase and you'll have to learn a new game.
