I thought some of you might be interested in a new variation to try. It sort of combines aspects of draw and hold'em (draw and community cards). It uses two decks. DC Draw Poker.
The hand rankings are the same, except now there is a 5 of kind...which beats the Royal Flush as the best hand (only possible due to the 2 decks in play).
You can play up to 10 people at a table (just like holdem)...and like holdem, that means with a full table only about 1/2 the cards are in play.
It is strange at first, but the new twist is fun.
- Each player is dealt 3 cards and a round of betting (so far like Texas Holdem, except for the extra card)
- Flop 2 cards (community cards) and a round of betting (like Texas Holdem, except one less on the flop)
- Each player can now discard and draw up to 2 new cards in their hands (or hold and keep them all)...and a round of betting. (this is the draw component)
- Flop 2 last community cards (basically, turn and river together)...and final round of betting.
