I sure listen to a lot of music and alternate between you tube videos and cable tv channels. I like to watch football or talk shows while I play. Of course at a final table, the maximum I put is a very quiet song.
I mix it up. If the table is talkative about the game and it's a cash game, then I'll have one ear bud. Tournaments, I'll have both in. Music is a nice balance of having something in the background, but able to focus on the game.
I prefer the sound of poker the music if I like it with its rhythm it loses concentration ... the sound of poker gets me the game and so I can study the method of play of each contricante
I usually have twitch playing so whatever music the streamer is listening too then I am listening to as well. I have my display on a T.V. screen next to my T.V. screen so I can watch both at once.
Since I mostly play mtts online, I typically listen to music or have a ballgame on tv. It seems to work well with keeping me from getting bored when card dead and prevents me from donking off chips. That said however, I can turn my attention towards the game when needed without being distracted.
I listen to music every now and then playing poker but I find myself turning it way down or completely off in big hands. I find that listening to soothing music that relaxes me is best for me when I play poker. If I am playing loud aggressive music it tends to make me play worse. Sounds weird but its true. I think a relaxed frame of mind while playing will help you make the best decisions. Just playing music because you are bored is not always a good idea!
