busted in i think it was 40th again in the daily forty k on poker stars. This keeps happening making it down to the last 50ish or so and it going wrong. has happened more times then i can count. I am considering the possibility that maybe there is a flaw in my late game.

I guess I just have to keep pushing and fighting and i should break through for a big cash eventually. we all know I have done it once before.

I am hoping to do it again just doesn't seem to be happening.

Have any of you had numerous of these frustrating close but not there experiences?

Somewhat

First, congrats on your previous big cash. Fantastic! Most likely, larger than most poker players will ever experience.

My largest cash was one fifth of yours. But, its been a year and a half and you start wondering if it will ever happen again.

You are certainly aware of how difficult it is to get to the final table of a very large MTT. As a rule, I generally try to pick ones that stay under 200 entrants.

IMO, I think you have to be careful not to presume that you will duplicate this particular achievement. I don't mean that you shouldn't have the confidence that you can and will do it again, but should not let your previous finish affect your current play and confidence. I think the expectation of another big finish could have a negative effect. I try not to think about previous accomplishes and just play the game to the best of my ability.

In other words play the game hard, let the cards fall where they may;). Sorry about that, couldn't help it.:) You can relate this to bowling a perfect game. You can chase it and never do it again, or relax and let it happen again.

There might be some truth in this not so much in moral terms but that in the late stages i have played a bit scared scared to blow it.

I think in the late stages you have to gamble and sometimes do stuff that others would call been a fish if done in regular normal poker.

theres just a few things i need to do differently. I started reading the Harrington books again and i can see what needs to be done.

Also remember the daily 40K is a huge "donkfest" with tons of players everyday. What happens is towards the end of this particular MTT, blinds have gone up so much, that it becomes more of a push-fest than a game of skill (note 10 minutes blinds big reason for this). Thus, many will have the same problem as you as you get down to last few tables. Really, 40ish is almost the same equivalent as final table, 1st place in this one, and is a very good accomplishment (without the money). What I mean to say is, 1st place and 40th is a very small difference in play in this particular tourny
