Hello poker players. As I live in Van I was pumped to hear about the wsopc coming to canada this month. The biggest poker tourney Ive ever played in was the poker stars sunday million. My best acomplishment is 12th out of 8000 for 7.5 grand in a sunday million. So I decided to take the sky train down and buy a ticket for the 1675 wsopc main event at River Rock. I have it now and im pumped seat 7 sounds lucky eh. Always lookin to read and learn more. like to hear advice. Looking forward to any posts with advcice. Been taking a few bad beats lately in cash games... I have JT suited and board comes 3jtja and i lose to aa. then I have jt again turn nuts on board 4kqa and get rivered by top pear spade flush draw. poker is so gross. Have to remember in wsopc not to chase draws in huge pots for my tourney life. Thanks:goodnight

Should be fun - good luck! Be cautious early on - you can see some flops cheap but don't get caught up in large pots with marginal hands. Once the antes come in you should be looking for good spots to build your chips.

Know when you are short stacked and don't raise or call when you should be shoving.

Just general advice cause every tournie and every table is different - can't play them all the same.

I posted this in a different thread before, but moving it over here now.

Good Luck Biff!! Sounds super exciting! Have you played in the BCPC there before?

There's probably going to be alot of good (errr.. 'great') players in it. With so many US online players moving to Van. I imagine it'll be infested with them. Be sure to keep us posted on your success/experience with it. Maybe we can use this thread here as the official thread for Van wsop-C

I may still make it down there yet.. I was really looking forward to it. Would probably only be able to make it for the Main tourney if I get there at all. Had a family tragedy last week - my partner suffered a stroke on Thursday but of course she's insisting I still go. Probably just wait til' next year (assuming it becomes a regular thing).

]Soooo bummed. They have capped number of entrants to these in Vancouver, ie. Event #1 (Oct.27th) is capped at max. entrants '400' and it was sold out over a month ago!!! Seems pretty ridiculous. (sold out more than 2mos. in advance!!!)
For BCPC they'd opened up theatre for more tables (I believe they're capable of running ~90 tables in total) & have had more than 650 entrants.

All of the events appear to have a cap of 300 or 400 entrants 'except' for Event#7. Even#7 has 3 starting days each with 40tables / 400 max. players, for a total of 1,200 max. for the event (< this is the $1,675 buyin).

Kinda bummed as my schedule is really up in the air here at the moment, with a few things I have no control over as far as timing/scheduling goes. My hopes of going to play in any of the events besides the main one are getting pretty close to nil. Was kinda hoping to play a couple of the $365 &/or $580 buyins prior to the big one. Doesn't seem possible now as there's no way I can reg. more than a couple/few days in advance & is looking like they're going to be sold out anyways.

Why set it at 400 max. the first time it runs here? Doesn't make alot of sense to me (I'm guessing they could easily get double that number for Event #1). I realize the logistics of timing, etc. I'd think maybe a couple less events & then up the max. number of entrants would be better. idk.... lots of bummed out players though. :(

Rake is set pretty high too. > $300 + $65, $500 + $80

Thats good advice Dakota thanks. I just hope i dont get a sick hand like that guy got that busted out of world series main first hand. One guy has AT and one guy has TT. Flop comes AAT...say goodnight. Ive never paid pore than 215 for tourney buy in so this is exciting for me. Hope I can stay calm and hit the final table to see some hands.:)
