Jay Farber made a spectacular bluff with 5 6 to Ryan Riess at the final table of the wsop. Minutes later he was to say their cards to the rival because with a delay of 15 min. the public can see the cards that had via internet. Think that was a good thing ?

I think it was good sportsmanship for him to mention it, but it wasn't necessary by any means. Ryan was going to find out, regardless, because of the delay.

As far as the delay itself, I'm not really a big fan of them having access to it. I loved the broadcast, but if they're going to continue like that I'd rather there be some sort of sequestering going on, at least for same-day play.

I like the fact that we (TV audience) can see the hands on the delay
but I don’t think they should allow anyone in the room to have access to the hands.
Even after 15 minutes it gives away too much information.

I think Farber should have kept the hand secret, he didn’t put Reiss on tilt by telling him
so I don’t see the advantage for him other him being a good sport.

Just my 2¢

agree with this ^ but how to control that?

Its great getting to see holecards but I also actually liked coverage in the past when holecards weren't revealed.
Was good to see they're regularly using Antonio now for broadcasts.. just makes it soooo much better when you get to listen to decent commentary. Would be great if they brought back Olivier for some too.

Hole cards that don't get turned up should NEVER be shown.

They should get rid of the hole card camera completely. Sure it's fun for the viewers. I enjoy it too, but I'm with Ivey on this. If I don't want the world to know my game, that should be my choice.

When he told there was less than five minutes before it was going to air so I really don't think it was that big of a deal. If anything, as far as changes go, I think they should play in the morning and air it that night. Simply not allowing people in the room the access to view the hands on delay won't work because the outside world will still see it and find a way to get the info to those inside(even if they ban cell phones and block wireless signals). As it stands, if everyone can see the hands at the same time then at least it is fair for all. I'm definitely not for the 15 minute delay, I think it changes the game too much, but I think that it is at least fair to everyone as everyone's rail has the info at the exact same time. I just don't think that would be the case if they did try to prevent those in the room from having access to the broadcast and hand info.

Well it technically is your choice, Since you have a choice to play in the tournament or not but when you register for the tournament you have to sign a contract letting them reveal your hole cards, after you do this it is no longer your choice.

I don't mind not being able to see the hole cards while they are playing but to let the payers be able to see it is dumb..

Reasons:
Pros benefit from this much more then amateur players
It's inconsistent, since players couldn't do this before the Final table
It kind of ruins the game, its giving the other player too much information for less, in other words the player can just fold and get the same info he wanted to see if he called
IT also could make it easier to pick up tells rather it be from body language facial expression or a betting pattern

I think letting us see the hole cards makes makes it so much more fun for us to watch.

However, in my opinion, it does effect the players in a negative way: no secrets after 15 mins have lapsed.

But, it is fair as long as all players are subject to the same rules. I think Jay should have kept his mouth shut. Let Riess wonder for that 5 mins - may have rattled him a little!

Just as JC was virtually card-dead the entire time he was at the final table, I think Jay had that same fate heads-up. He played much better than I expected but Riess was just running hot!

(PS - Loosli, should have learned to Verbalize his actions in a live tournament! Him not knowing to do that, really cost him -- Twice!)

As far as the game goes I don't think it's a "good" or "bad" thing, it's just a "thing". Everybody has access to the same information, everybody knows the deal, it's a level playing field.

I think it's definitely a good thing as far as the promotion of poker to a wider audience goes though. I mean imagine if the Superbowl wasn't shown on TV until three months after it happened, meaning that pretty much everybody watching would already know who won. Viewing numbers wouldn't be anywhere near as high, and promotion of the game would suffer. The WSOP Main Event, pokers Superbowl, was having exactly that problem and this 15 minute delay, for better or worse, addresses that issue.

Maybe you are right, everything changes and evolves. That is inevitable. And any change favors to some and harms to others.

I Think Poker Pro's mix up their play. If you focus too much on what they did you will miss what they are doing.

I don't like the 3.5 month delay to finish the tourney.

I'm not sure I understand who this harms - they all have access to the same information on the 15 minute delay, and they all knew that was going to be the case going into the tournament.

I don't like the 3.5 month delay to finish the tourney.

It doesn't really appeal to the poker purist in me either, but again, everybody in the tournament is in the same boat and they all knew about it going in, so it's not like anybody's being disadvantaged or anything.

Also it's what ESPN wants. And with coverage on ESPN being one of the biggest factors in attracting new fish to the game (not to mention sponsors and everything else) you can understand why the WSOP was keen to embrace the concept. Hell, if ESPN wanted all the players at the final table to play in gingham dresses because they thought it'd improve ratings I'd say the WSOP would be stupid not to comply.

i just want to know if the audience in casino would see the cards revealed or not?
if yes, that would be horrible.
but anyway, there always some methods to know, like, sending text message, after cards are shown.

15 minutes delay is good.
recalls me about pokerstars' sunday million final table replay.
