What time of year do they start, sometime in the spring?

Also, do sites give away seats to wsop events other than the main event? I'd really like to play in some 2009 events but would prefer some of the smaller buy-in ones.

I think some sites may start as early as Jan./Feb. They do have entries to events other than the main event, just not as many. As far as cutting back on entries, the main event entries are down mainly due to UIGEA. There are simply less sites offering satellites.

Depends on the site. I believe Stars starts their sats around March. FT is better about giving away seats to the other WSOP events. Of course, if you win a WSOP package from any site, it is payed in cash to your account. So you could always take the $11K and spend it on a couple of smaller events.

Oh, I didn't realize that! No restrictions that you have to play the main event and wear the site's logos, etc.? If that's the case, I'd be very tempted to play a couple of smaller events and take the rest in cash.

Beth,
I know you're not far from Vegas, so you might want to come down here in early May. A lot of casinos have small buy-in that will award seats to the WSOP...not just the ME. Cesar's is the best place for them. I'll LYK when they start up, just remind me, then.

If I remember correctly, Sportsbook gave away seats to some $1,500 buy-ins. I do not know if these tournies were run across the entire Cake network or not. I also do not remember when they began.
