I can't believe nobody has started a thread on this yet. Did you guys all see the Quad Aces get beat by the Royal Flush? That was just sick!

The quad A's was sick. Also the 44 vs. AK with the A4A board.

I lost respect for Daniel (a little) when he got knocked out in real time. He was talking about how he would lay that hand down in a heartbeat to any pro, but there was no way an amateur could get cards on him like that.

I was surprised how composed he was when I actually saw it happen tonight, as opposed to hearing him talk about it.

From his blog, I was expecting to see a meltdown of Helmuthian proportions.

I was impressed the Scotty was buying drinks for everyone in the crowd... maybe he won't seem as drunk if he gets the crowd lit up with him.

I'm sorry but when you hit trips on the flop, your not thinking the other person did the same. I don't think he, nor anybody else for that matter would have played that hand any differently, even if up against a pro. I still admire Daniel, but he just hasn't been going as great as he used to.

Daniel N. is no better or worse than any other real pro. At times he can, as most real pros, tell you almost to the card what the other player is holding. But then at times his reads are just as off. Daniel did get a braclet this year and because of that I think people expected him to go farther in the Main Event. Over the last couple of years Daniel has not been in the zone very much. Someone, commented on another site he was playing more golf and other games than poker. He might want to get back to thte basics for a while.

its probably just me, but it seems like there were a looooot of dumb plays made in this first day. i cant recall the guy's name but he was in a hand against gazes( he had a FT shirt on) and he stays with the river with i think it was Q6 and even told gazes he was making a bad call. later this same genius had about A6ds..... and again, bad with names here, but the other guy was irish i think. the irish guy has 88. and made a bit of a raise, and this genius reraises allin for 15k with his A6ds.. now that may have worked if the whole table didnt know he was playin crap all day. the irish guy thinks for a long time, and finally calls with his 88. flop brought 2 ds. but no help and turn and river were a blank. the irish guy even explained to him that the allin didnt make any sense. f that. if he wants to play that stupid, let him do it. i may have some of the details wrong, but this was just one of many horrible plays i saw. just insane.

Horrible plays = standard for the Main Event, and not just on day one.

The royal over quad aces was sick, I aspire to one day deal a live beat that bad. Worst I've ever managed is straight flush over straight flush :p

at least it wasnt a miss deal. makes sence though. to stage a few bad beats of great quality gives us something to talk about. RATINGS!!! did we realy have a main event this year or was it staged. or maybe it was special effects added in after the taping. heres daniel busted out lets edit the cards to look like a killer bad beat. we will pay him to keep quiet.

Methinks not - both hands (the royal over quads, and Negreanu's set over set) were reported on PokerNews and probably other blogs too when they happened.

Main event

Don't you hate it when someone on the final table just keeps folding until others get knocked out. Hate it.

I agree. The whole reason behind the world series is that you are up for days on end playing cards, and you have got to be really good and really lucky to make the final table. Why let them have a few months break to relax and let their luck, skill, or play style change?

I found all the episodes that have already played on tv on this guys YouTube page -

YouTube - RandomPoker's Channel

I'm pretty sure he has all of the episodes. I know he has the main event episodes on there so far, at least.

I usually delete the shows off my DVR after I watch them, but that Quad AAAA's vs the Royal made me keep that one. Too bad they didn't show how the hand played out: i.e. pre-flop, flop, turn, and river betting. We only got to see the all-in by the Quads and insta-call by the Royal on the River.
That guy that lost with the Quad AAAA's must have had some dirty drawers on the way out the door. :p

There's already a few threads on this topic, just do a search.

They stacked off over it (as they should) but it was on Day 1, so at most the winner might've won about 60K of the 136 million in chips that were in play.
