Suckout, Then Resuckout, Then Resuckout

Carlos Mortensen raised to 75,000, and Marvin Rettenmaier three-bet to 192,000. Alexander Livingston then re-raised to 376,000. Mortensen thought for a minute, then folded, and Rettenmaier went into the tank. After thinking for a full five minutes, he shoved all in for 1,472,000.

Livingston got an anguished look on his face. After thinking for a minute, he made what seemed like a crying call, and the players turned up their cards.

Livingston looked sick, as though he knew what Rettenmaier had before he even saw the cards.
Then the flop came,

, and a huge roar went up from the crowd as Livingston took the lead with his set of queens.

Rettenmaier, however, gained an open-ended straight draw, and he could still catch one of the remaining kings to win as well.
The turn was the

, and another huge roar came from the crowd as Rettenmaier retook the lead with a higher set.

Then the

fell on the river, and all the drama was for naught. The players split the pot with a straight on board.

If the players hadn't split the pot, whoever won would be above three million in chips, but Rettenmaier and Livingston will have to wait to try to reach that mark.

just read that hand and had to post it lolool

Looks like Steve Gee is getting the last laugh, he's the last surviving member of last year's final table and Salaburu is long gone. Greg Merson pushed A2s into AKs and is also gone in 167th place.
He is 18th in chips right now.

Livingston (guy who had QQ that hand) is a friend of a friend, had dinner with him one night seemed cool really pulling for him as he's the only one left that I even vaguely know irl.

Question for those following ME, out of the remaining players who do you think would be the best for poker if they went on to win? Personally I think it's annette_15, really think it would be great for the game to have a woman win the ME. Their market share has been increasing lately, but I think it might skyrocket if she managed to make the november 9. Also would be an incredible feat, she would be the first player to win both a wsop europe ME and WSOP ME in the post moneymaker era.

I think it's best for some random donk who plays horribly and sucks out a lot to win because it vindicates the fish and then they flock to the tables and hand me monies. :D

See, that's the thing. You don't want true skilled poker to be in ESPN, and filter out into the public consciousness. You want people to play awful and think they're playing well.

Steve Gee is 55 in chips. I am getting exited thinking he has a chance to make back to back final tables. I felt bad for him last year being called an idiot and going out 9th.

Steve Gee v. Jackie Glazier HU at the final table....in this case I would have great difficulty picking which player to root for because I would want them both to win.

Yevgeniy Timoshenko is current Chip Leader with over 8mil in chips!

I remember watching this guy back in Sept.2009 take down the WCOOP MainEvent ($1.7mill) (aka jovialgent) & the Fulltilt $1K Monday (aka bballer88)on the same night! Now he just needs to add a WSOP MainEvent to his resume. ;)

WSOP Daily update 14th July 2013

The 14th saw the reduction of the WSOP Main Event field from 68 down to just 27 hopefuls. They will be returning to play Day 7, where they will fight tooth and nail (and anything else they can find) to be one of the last nine players standing at the end of Day 7. The November nine will be back in, surprisingly enough, November to play out the final table.

Those who are playing Day 7 will be very conscious of the fact that 66% of them are going to have to make do with a payout, rather than a return trip in November. Everyone still in the event is guaranteed a $285,408 payout, but being poker players, everyone is still focused on the $8,359,531 first prize, and all the players are doing their best to be the one to pick that up in November.

Just 15 players left! They are playing down to the 'November Nine' this evening (no matter how long it takes).
Some upsets today as the early day huge chip leader went out awhile ago (20th) (Morgenstern) donking off in a couple of huge pots going from 20+ mil down to 5mil. Then another chip leader has also now gone out in 16th (Chris Lindh).

JC Tran is still in it (5th) as is David 'Raptor' Benefield (7th)(< he started day on a small stack!) along with Carlos Mortensen (9th) (< incidentally seen chatting with Helmuth prior to the start of the day.... 'tips'?).
With 6 more needed to go out, there are 4 players with <20bb's.

ONE MORE TO GO!!!! (10 left and they have currently just started play on the 'unofficial' final table... one more needs to go out before they wrap it up for the day with the Final table "November Nine")
... shortest stack has 16bb's (< he just doubled up!) & next shortest has 19bb's! Could be any minute now!
