I was watching the main event the other day and noticed all the advertisements on clothing and hats for 888 poker....but these were being worn by US players and 888 supposedly doesn't allow us players. I say "supposedly" because I downloaded their software and then put in a fake country and address and it worked but I haven't made a deposit yet (the real problem haha). How do professionals like tom dwan and others play online in the US when they are sponsored by sites that don't allow them to play in the U.S.?

They may live in another country to play online, or may just be sponsored but not actually play on that site.

I wouldnt advise depositing.

I was thinking about this and it seems like there should be a service out there that allows you to access a computer in another country then do whatever from that computer that the country allows.

Like if I wanted to watch the BBC on there website but I don't live in the UK. Or if I want to play poker. I would be surprised if something like rent a computer in another country does not exist already.

You won't be able to deposit.

yep - Tom Dwan lives in another country now not the US.

Yep - and most of the people who have tried this have been caught and permanently banned from the poker sites. It is not recommended.

Yeah normally I would try tricks to outmaneuver them and still be able to play but I decided it isn't worth it because even if I did manage it there would be a constant threat of my winnings being taken away at any moment, so it isn't really worth it in the end.

As mentioned, this is easily doable... but the risk in doing so is that once they catch you doing it (and they will) you are pretty much screwed.
