As in many of my previous posts I am still learning and believe I will never stop.

However, I am irritated beyond belief. Maybe I missed the memo or something. At any rate. wsop has been on ESPN here lately and I enjoy and learn many things from watching it... With that being said I am sick and damn tired of waiting and finally around 11 pm its on for 2 hrs ONLY TO FIND freaking NASCAR or TENNIS running in it's spot...... No offense to those who enjoy watching people drive in circles but I am tired of this.. Did I miss something ?

Pretty sure that has something to do with television/network scheduling & not much to do with WSOP:confused:

Here they had it scheduled to show one night... then didn't run it but had it on the following night. I had to battle to get to watch it & ended up only seeing part of it :( (I think I lost out to Housewives of OrangeCounty... but might've been 'CakeBoss'... nope.. I think it was 'Storage Wars'... "yeaaaaappp!" that's what it was!)

I like watching poker on TV, but just a little hint for you... you will not learn anything from watching poker on TV except maybe terminology. If you want to learn poker, play, read, discuss poker. The only video on poker that will help you with your game will be like that on a training site, because it is presented to help and teach. Poker on TV is just there for entertainment.

Now Storage Wars...I learn a lot from that ;)

The 11:00 on ESPN2 is just the replay of the original on ESPN 8:00 and 9:00 on Tuesdays. Ive noticed same thing cause I'll DVR the 11:00 show only to get tennis or nascar.

I disagree... Ideas come up or watching the " Pros" play can always benefit your game in one form or another. At least IMO.. and if I met Dave Hester in person I would probably have a few choice words for him.. LOL.. He annoys the living poop out of me.. Love the show but cannot stand that guy.. I am not a big tv watcher.. love the history channel and discovery and a few shows like Storage Wars but I want MY POKER !!!!

Watching them play isolated hands won't help you though. They only really show the big hands where someone makes a big bluff, doubles up in a race, or where there are two + big hands, not the thousands of hands in between where the blinds are just picked up(another reason why bad players feel the need to play damn near every hand, because that's how they think they see the pros doing it). Also, in those big hands you are just seeing what they are doing based on a extremely tiny portion of information, so it really isn't helping you. You don't have any of the information on probable reads, whether it be visual or mathematical(bet sizes and such), which in most cases is the reason that they make a big move. This is one reason why so many people playing at the lower levels make such terrible plays... They see someone on TV overshove bluff with 72o and win the pot, so they think they can do it now, not taking into consideration all of the other things that were going through the player making the play's head.

Now if they had more player commentary afterwards and had the players in the hands talking about what was going on, what they noticed and why they made exact plays, then it might be more beneficial. Until they do that, watching poker on TV really is going to do about as much to help you as watching football on TV in your quest to be an NFL star when you've never played.

I've been going to the races since 1963. At Bristol Fred Lorenzen won that day. My wife and I were at Daytona beach during Speed Weeks seventeen consecutive years from the late 70's to the mid 90's. I love it!
