June 25-Aug 10?

omg that's 2 whole weeks. It's getting pretty ridiculous imo, wonder how many people will enter this time?

are they adding more events or just spreading them out more? they already have so many. hard to imagine the main event field getting much bigger. so much of that is based on all the people there from online satelites. i mean pokerstars alone sent over a thousand. i think the only way it'll get bigger is if they do more satelites, which is certainly possible. crazy...

Looks like the BIG $10,000 hold-em event has been spread out more after all the extra time needed this year.

But whatever they try to do its one heck of a number-crunching job for someone :)

Is that supposed to be July 25? A month and a half seems like a terribly long event! :)

And Beardyian--I hereby formally request an avatar change...your current choice freaks me out!

it was about a month and a half long event this year juicee, the beginning of June until the middle of July, and i think they're expecting it to get even bigger next year, so those dates are probably correct. as i said, crazy...

Ah, it is June and it's the whole series of events, not just the main. Actually havin to work and stuff has done silly things to my brain... >_>

Still, I heard somewhere that the main event will run for 2 weeks next year, so if that was right then it remains insane.

The main event will run for 14 days in 2006. There will be four 1 Day legs (1A, 1B, 1C, and 1D). Then 1A and 1B will combine to form 2E, and 1C and 1D will combine to form 2F. Then 2E and 2F will combine and play from there.

They are planning to have 8,000 people next year and can support up to 800 alternates (200 per day for the first 4 days). They also expect 1st place to pay $10 Million.

anybody wanna give 10,000 to enter the main event?

i think it will be bigger than last year. It has become such a circus. fun to watch , but a total crapshoot to make it to the money.

does anybody like this format? it's almost like a shootout, where you have to survive a smaller sattelite to make it on to the next stage.

I think it's alittle silly. If you are on Day 1A, you could potentially have to stay in Vegas for 14 days? Granted that if you made it that far, you could afford a hotel room for 14 days, but still...

Rather than have these WSOP Circuit events at all of the Harrah's, why not have WSOP "Regionals" like the NCAA Tourney? You play in the one closest to you and then they combine you all out in Vegas for the final 3 or 4 tables.

Hi Everyone,
Here's my Rant for Today!:p
I have been reading Daniel Negreanu's poker journal on his website FullContact.com and He wrote an entry the other day about the 2006 WSOP schedule. It seems that the "new" WSOP is getting away from many forms of poker and concentrating on more Holdem events. Even though Texas HE is so popular right now, other forms of the game are going to the wayside. I myself really never paid attention to all the scheduling in the past but what I have seen from this one it's seems to be true.

When Harrahs bought out Binions and then I found out they were moving the events over to the Rio, I told my husband that it was an end to an era. I don't like change in something that has been around for years like this. I can understand the "Need" to move it because of space but to change the schedule of events? I really like the idea of everyone having a chance like they do but you know it really is sad that Harrahs doesn't atleast keep the WSOP "Sacred". Just as Daniel said in his journal it's the world series of poker not the World Series of Texas Holdem.

IF IT AIN'T BROKE DON'T FIX IT!!!

Is that a bad thing? I think the (semi) shootout format would solve a lot of problems.

On a sad note this will be the first WSOP to not have any part held at the Horseshoe. I guess it's still the Horseshoe or is it just Binion's now?
