Record turnout for the first tournament that was open to the public. Players such as Phil Hellmeuth had to wait as alternates. Anyways there are many sites with daily updates from the wsop. Here are a few I have found
www.cardplayer.com
www.pokerupdates.com
and www.pokerwire.com

Looks like its gonna be a crazy six weeks of poker in Vegas.
Anybody goin?

My friend won a seat through a satellite to the WSOP this year. Paradise Poker is sending 300 people to the WSOP this year. There are going to be over 3000 players I think this year. I am still trying to get a seat through a cheap satellite game.

The WSOP should not allow as many internet qualifiers, the numbers will go down then make people actually pay the ten grand before raising it. The problem with raising it is more people won't be able to afford it so therefore pokers popularity may go down if the average joe can't afford to get in.

The main event might have 6,600 people being that 6,600 is the max they could seat. (2.200 seats x 3 opening rounds) Most of the inter net sites are giving away main event seats these days but there were many opportunites to get into the smaller events leading up to it. Being that was the first tournament of this years WSOP you could expect such a tournout but the numbers should slow alittle in the following weeks. This is what they expected when they moved it from Binnions to the Rio. Although the final table for the main event will take place at binnions but thats only what 9 players.

I have a friend who is going to play wsop05...
It's really something you want to do, a dream for every tournament poker player. I wonder who is going to win this year? But it's impossible to say, there are many good players out there.

there is one site i've found where if you can guess the winner of the main event you get $500. Unfortunatley you only have until july 3rd to guess and i think you have better odds of hitting the lotto. Just like "fossilman" this years champ will come out of nowhere and turn famous overnight. So anyways good luck to all playing
