While there finally are some exceptions (notably the Super stack or whatever they called it) most 1ks/1500s at the wsop are horribly structured and horribly raked as compared to comparable buy ins on tours like the MSPT or HPT.

I really would never consider playing a straight low buy in WSOP event at all bc I am not a huge fan of blowing off a grand playing a glorified turbo.

What is the draw of these events to the lower/mid limit grinders?

Is there really a mystique left to huge fielded NLH donkament just because there is the WSOP stamp on it?

Are the fields THAT soft to make taking shots in these for folks without a 6 figure bankroll wise at all?

I just think with the series giving out what soon might be 70! bracelets makes winning one in a nondescript event like a 1k pretty much minor in the poker world....I mean honestly, how many 1k winners can you name right now?

Cliffs:

Small in buyins at the WSOP are horribly structured/raked and not worth playing for most players.

I don't like them either - the blind structure is great - but starting with 3k-4.5k starting chips is just not good. You have no wiggle room by level 2 or especially 3 if you have not been able to build your stack.

I will continue to play the Ladies event because I think I have an edge over enough of the field for it to be worthwhile. But I won't play any others again.

I will play the Monster Stack going forward.

In the 1ks you are in borderline push fold with a starting stack at lvl 4....definitely in push fold level 5.

Whatta joke....

And people come out in droves to play these and pay good amount of rake to Caesar's....

I just don't get it.

Maybe it all just about the rake nowadays.More tourney more rake for the casino.Giving less value on the bracelets and the winner.

It is all about the rake; which doesn't surprise me when dealing with a publicly traded corporation...

What surprises me is so many just blindly play these turbos for significant pieces of their bankroll and do so without demanding a better experience- i.e. more play.

It's all about chasing a bracelet and so much money being up top and not having better alternatives.

I think that we will see more than 1 Monster Stack next year because most players do prefer a deep stack - they proved that by coming out in droves for that event.

+1) I was all with you until talk of no alternatives...MSPT, HPT, local vegas series like the WPT500/VDS/Binion's series...etc.

2) They'll run 2 monster stacks next yr with one being one of the first 5-10 events, just watch. Id love to see 3 be included every yr/.

I totally agree with you all. These 1k ,1500 buyins Events are Turbos like lotteries with such a small starting stack . Not a good value for recreational Players . and of course the organisers want more of it as it pays big rake to them...

Those are good alternatives for me - and the PH Phamous series and - but they are not great alternatives for people who want a lot more money up top - they don't compare to the WSOP games in that regard. Those buy-ins are much smaller than the $1k and $1.5k WSOP events. I have participated in all of them except the MSPT which I have never even heard of. Only their main events - and in some rare cases 1 more game - are $1k+ buy-ins.

I am totally with you on this. If I had to play a 1K-1.5K tournies I would probably go with HPT. That also has to do with HPT comes right to the casino by me (coming up this month). Also, in my eyes..why would I pay to fly out to vegas and play maybe 1 or 2 of these tournies and pay for the cost of going out there when I could play a tourney in my backyard. WSOP to me is very mainstreamed and that is what lures all the players. Yet, WSOP is so long and has so many events I feel like that is a trip you for sure have to really plan and what tournaments would be best to get your money in. If I went out to WSOP I would wanna stay out there for awhile playing quite a few tournaments so that would rack up a lot in the cost then playing 1 in my backyard that I could possibly hit big and still would be a nice win with or without the bracelet.

Damn it feels good to be right....

I hope the shift is to more and more of these 1Ks/1500s to be better structured or for turnout to continue to drop (they have dropped) for them.

There is simply no reason for CET to collect rake like it's a deep/normal stacked 1k/1500 ME type donkament and then run what is essentially a turbo.

People, STOP GOING TO PLAY THOSE BINGOAMENTS.

Well the structure seems a bit shallow in the beginning, but it gets better as it progresses. The 1 hour levels are wonderful in late stages.

Its def about chasing a dream/bracelet.

Just writing this makes me want to be back there this summer for an event :( Don't think its happening.

I never understood the whole ", well the structure is shyte at the beginning, but....," hey the beginning affects all of the players and therefore is very important. It sucks to have to make huge tournament defining decisions preflop in the 2nd or 3rd levels with not much experience with certain players at all.

I want the flexibility to be able to lay down a QQ/JJ in the 3rd level of a tournament just over 120mins in....at least if I am paying four digits and excessive vig for it.

How people can defend 1500 dollar tournaments vigged to the hilt that gives you 33.3BB 121 MINUTES into the tournament.....that's 2 hours in you're looking at not really looking at much play post in 3B pots...at least not enough to really mostly ever get away from TPGK type hands SPR wise even with pot control type play.

I am sorry; that isn't good enough for the vig they take and I would suggest adding AT LEAST 2k to the starting stacks, probably close to 3k.

There is a place for turbos, and probably a demand for them, good..BUT when it comes to non-turbo events around 1500 bucks- which is the ME price
point for most smaller series around the domestic poker market, the structure needs to be better than 33.3BB two hours into a tournament with starting stack.....I am sorry.
