Wow, on-line poker is so boring compared to the real thing...

Finally got a chance to play in the casino a couple of times over the last month... I just find the whole experience to be a lot more entertaining the on-line game. I can interact with people, my eyes aren't twitching from looking at a screen for hours, and best of all... I get to collect cash after i'm done.

Gotta love it!

Uhhyup.

Playing at a casino is way way way more fun, so much more action from live donks.... even though its dealt at a WAYYYY slower pace. When I go thru the day theres so many rich old asian people that want to play poker and will call down with any pair, so delicious.

Its like 15-20 hands an hour instead of 300++ online, meh oh well.

It's easier to read people in live poker, plus, you get to conversate more. Live poker is more fun, but I still enjoy online as well.

This is like saying sex is better live... yes, I agree.

As AG says (I believe it's AG), live =/= online

It depends on your perspective. If you want to see a bunch of hands per hour and play more situations then online is better. However if you enjoy the feel of playing poker(cards, chips, dealer, etc) then live is a lot better. I enjoy live more because of the above and because the idiots try to give you money.

On the flip side of live poker is the people who wont shut up or constantly annoy you with stupid bs. Also because the players are so bad, plenty of bad beats.

i agree. although home games are the very best. you can suffer a beat down at a home game and your friends are there to laugh at ya and make you feel better. there are so many times where i need my laptop to be my friend and make me laugh.

Live poker is pretty boring for me. Lot of time sitting doing nothing but watching the action waiting for another hand to be dealt. But it is a good exercise for patience.

Tiffany Michelle is my only reason to play live poker. People can read me so easily. Online? Not so much.

I have been playing at the casino pretty regular the last couple of months. It has been more profitable for me, simply because of being able to read the other players better, plus there are so many things to distract you when you play online. I can see it very profitable when multi-tabling and the amount of hands but nothing compares to live games in my opinion

[x] Depends entirely on the stakes

If we're comparing playing $200NL live vs 12-tabling $200NL online then you're right.

If we're comparing playing $2000NL live vs 12-tabling $200NL online though... then it's a much closer thing.

True, and the fact that live poker is so much easier than online makes it possible to play higher limits live. Just saying in general it's really tough to make it as a live pro unless you're really really good. I know some 200nl and even at least one 100nl FR player making a living off the game online.

I play these live games in the town I just moved to and BOY, is it fun. They have small tournaments with some pretty ok players, and some completely WILD cash games. In a typical hand in these cash games there will be a raise from the BB of 50 cents to about 2-4 bucks and there will be four callers. It is unreal how loose and bad these guys are. It is easy to take a bad beat since they'll call you down with just about anything, but playing tight-aggressive has left me with a profit every time but once.

Online sucks these days... Just when I think I finally have found a donk or two they two out me on the river.

I dunno about online being that much more profitable than live. I know of a 1/2 game at a casino called Newcastle around here where its not unusual for a good reg to walk out with 1k profit. Now thats not just recreational table time, thats over a span of atleast 10 hours for the most part, but for me live table play especially in 1/2/5 rock has been swell.

And it's not unusual for a 1/2 live player to win $1k in the span of an hour.

A guy at my table got pock KK, about 7 times.... needless to say he probably made about $800-900 ish. It was so sick, after the 4th or 5th time the table was so excited lol, people reloading like mad.

Not to mention not only did he win every showdown, but he got paid off pretty much every time. (not by me thankfully).

Finally got a chance to play live about a month ago. Me and some friends went to Tampa to the Hard Rock Casino. Travelled 12 hours because we aren't 21 lol. But I made about $600 in 4 days down there. So much easier to read people and I didn't get screwed on the river every time haha. Hands down live action is 20 million times better! At one table I sat with $70. It was NL 1/2. Walked away in about 5 hours with $559 haha.

well onlie seems to be all a coin flip. but when you play real you can earn respect from other players and it gets tougher but funner

lol live is tougher? Assuming you're a typical live winner but can't seem to win online so blame it on being "all a coin flip"?

I went to the casino for the first time a few days ago to play a 200€ tournament and it was sure hella fun. Plenty of donks there, casino environment beats looking at the screen, exceedingly attractive cocktail waitresses and social interaction were all a great experience for me, but there's no way live beats online because of the turtle slow pace. Oh and I saw the hugest bad beats there, I seriously think live poker is rigged now. God I saw AA v AA, AT>AA (T on the flop and river obv), KK > AA like 3 from the bubble on a satellite and more coolers than than I can count.

My bustout hand was fun: raise UTG to 900 from an aggressive player, two calls in late position and I ship it in with AQo with like 7000 behind. UTG folds 99, INSTACALL by first caller with QJs (lol) and after agonizing for a minute or two second caller decides to call as well with 66... J on the flop gives QJs the enormous pot and as I shake his hand he tells me something like "gotta risk it sometimes" and I giggle a little inside. Funny thing is for some reason I don't feel tilted AT ALL when I busted or lost big pots live when I probably would be throwing my pet off the balcony online... oh well next day played a 50€ satellite to a 350€ buy in and ended up getting the seat along with 10 other players so it was worthwhile. I'll be there again for sure, but online is still my home.

I've seen that happen in 1/2/5 rock, but not in a reg 1/2 game. Most i have ever seen earned in an hour is around 500-650 somewhere in there. I couldn't imagine it getting much crazier than that for an hour of play.
