I watched this bizzare video on youtube where Dwan called down the river with 9 high and I lost the hand.
The commentary indicated that maybe Dwan was putting Negreanu on low suited connectors... regardless, the call seems crazy to me.

Obviously, Ace high and King high can win hands if you are aggressive forcing people out of the hand who might have weak pairs.

I was wondering if anyone knows of an instance when someone has won a hand with 9 high or weaker in a 6 max or full ring cash game? (probably has happened many times in HU when both players decide to bluff with air)
I am specificially interested in hands where all streets were played, rather than some weird short stack shove situation where no one sees a flop

Theoretically, the lowest possible hand that could win would be 42 with no pair, flush or straight, if it was facing a 32... very likely I know :D

I remember seeing from one of the cardrunners coaches MDoran or Verneer where they had 44 and the board was 55663 and villain had 22. I'm pretty sure there was a super small bet on the river and they called to Win with 4 high

Wow, that is pretty incredible. Obv in this case, both players had a playable hand before counterfeiting.

In this case there are so few hands you are beating, only 22, 23 and splitting with 24, 34 or 44. In addition, none of these hands are particularly likely, even the small pocket pairs. There must have been enormous pot odds to even consider calling down with 44

I think he called the river just to inspect Negreanu's game. To see when and why he calls. To see what is his range. To see your opponents cards could give you vital information. So if the next few hands Dwan hits a trips or a set he knows that Negreanu would call even if he miss the flop. On the other hand Negreanu would think Dwan is a loose player who is too curious and would call everything. This is a good strategy if you have a huge stack in front of you because it might take time to have the same situation and he actually to have a seven in his pocket. Well at least this is my explanation I don't know what is it in his head but I believe he is not a regular donk since he sits there and we don't.

My favorite hand is 3 5. I was chip leader late in tourney. Short stack goes all in,I got my 3 5 and called. He showed AA. I flopped 3 3's and caught a 5 on the river for the boat and added 1 more hater to my list.:D:D

Interesting, but don't you think that Dwan and Negreanu have played together enough hands that they both have a reasonable idea of each other's range?

I have expected such an answer. Yes, even if they haven't play together they would have seen each other moves on TV. BUT players of that rank do not play by a template. They have various strategies for every opponent, every cash game, every tournament. For example I would never raise with a 95s but I see a lot of poker pros do it but they have the ability to adjust to the current game while me and the rest 99% of poker players are not so talented and we prefer to enter the flop with at least ATo. And that's the main reason why you, me and the rest of 99% poker players are not at this particular table :D.

Edit:
Just got simpler answer on my mind - I have been in a situation where I am 100% sure that I lost the hand and still paid just to see his cards. Pure curiosity.

I was recently reading James McManus' book Cowboys Full (nice Christmas present!) where he recalled an anecdote where the late Stu Ungar accurately put his opponent on a one of two combinations of suited connectors and won a pot by called all-in on the river with 10 high!
Maybe Dwan had this in mind.
