Should we be worried? Also what could bring us back 2 better numbers?

If I look at the year to year pokertraffic, from the start of onlinepoker and see the numbers now its really worrying me.

More sites quit, networks quit and sometimes unfortunately sites even grab players money as we all know when they go broke.

Also some ask more rake and less value and or promo's for players it seems on top of that more running sites exclude certain countries or countries have regulation.

Normally the lows seem earlier in the year and as I cant see through 2013 on this page so the actual low this year could have been way worse then the low of 2013, I counted the peak player from yesterday thats worrying me a bit about the future of online poker ,while we even had a peak of 128k players in January 2010.

Also in retrospect PS had this number alone what we have now on total online players everywhere( I remember with milestones like 100k players at peaks)

Online poker is a dying sport. Current site promotions are money grabs designed to screw over regs. Leaderboards are exceptions. It's becoming harder and harder to win and eventually it will be nearly impossible.

:(

They need a new site to open... one that has 5% tourney fees, 45-man Sng's (reg. speed), real poker games ... eliminating all of the gimmicky stuff (ie. jackpot SNG), satellites paying out 1 in 4 players, lower late reg. to 20mins. across the board, Step Satties to Live Events... including wsop low buyins & Circuit Events. Advertise like crazy on TV, bring back a 'play with the pros' similar to FTP days.
Call it 'UltimateTilt' or 'FullBet'.... maybe AbsoluteTilt.

traffic on iPoker network sites is now almost non-existent. Tourney lobby only has micro buyins with maybe a few $20 & one or two $50 games in a day. The SPEED cash tables are often not even running and even during peak times they'll have less than 40 players on them (and most are playing 2 to 4 tables so it's really only 10 or 15 players playing).
fwiw, the players who remain on iPoker in the tournaments are just TERRIBLE so in that respect it is good.

Maybe Phil Galfond's new upcoming site will be good? Here's hoping

Don't you mostly just play the bigger Live tourneys these days? They actually have a few tournament Series here that I'm able to get to now. Well they're still actually 7 & 10hrs. drive from here but I have family there & people to visit so I don't have to go just for the poker (I wouldn't go if it was just poker)

The reason it's dying is because it's becoming harder and harder to be a winning player. Players skill levels become very similar and when this happens the variance side of poker greatly increases. Before you know it you're just playing when you get a good hand and folding when you don't.

I'm afraid I don't understand your last comment here ^
Care to explain?

Personally I think it's because the level of skill has increased greatly & is now much, MUCH harder for a recreational player to win anything. (never mind consistently). Continually higher ratio of regs. to recs. Also, rewards programs have mostly gone down the tubes AND sites have increased rake fees.

Omg yes I never enter any promo codes when making a deposit on ANY site. The stipulations upon the money became near scam rated when i used a promo on betonline. I actually called them up and had it canceled
